Superb optics in a bombproof unit
After 16yrs with a top-of-the-range Nikon “marine” binocular in 7x50 (with compass) that went a little water-marked inside one tube, and Nikon UK saying “it’s too old for us to clean/fix” I looked for a replacement.It came down to the Steiner Commander or the Fujinon FMTR SX2 (both available with or without compass).Wanting simplicity, I elected for no compass and finally decided on the Steiner Commander sold here on Amazon. Having now spent a good few hours with it, I can only say I am BLOWN AWAY with its quality and ability to capture light and detail. The only negatives are the neck straps ( they both feel cheap, certainly won’t last 20 years). The travel case is, however, superb.Yes, these binoculars are expensive but at this level you only buy them ONCE in a lifetime. 5 stars.
