My gir is 73lbs. the one she used is rated 80-160lbs. i hate to buy the maverick, which has a weight max of 80lbs. anyone have experience w/ this?

I'm an elementary physical education teacher and I have both models. As funny as it seems I've had some Maverick's (depending on the years I bought them) with more bounce compared to others (i.e. my red/blue has more tension than my white/blue). The same goes with this model (my yellow/black has more tension than my red/blue). I weigh 190 lbs and I can use my yellow/black (this model) for demonstration purposes, but I bottom out with the red/blue. I would not go with the Maverick, because even if your daughter can use it now she'll soon outgrow it. I would go with this model even if it is still a bit stiff, it can be broken in a bit. It also depends on her jumping experience. If she already has experience jumping successfully on a pogo stick, I've had kids as young as second grade jump on this model (who weigh about 50 lbs.) and they can jump high enough to use their body force/weight to keep it going AND THEY LOVE IT. Most of my 4-5th grade girls are around the same weight as your girl (73 lbs.) and they love this model.

Is anyone else finding this pogo stick too stiff for kids to jump with? My husband can get it to bounce and we wonder if it just needs breaking in?

We bought this pogo stick when our oldest was about 12 and youngest about 9. The youngest is a small child and doesn't weigh much so he had a harder time with it at first, the older one could use it just fine. My younger one is almost 12 now and can jump on it really well now. I think the weight of the person has a lot to do with it, seems like about 60ish pounds is the magic number to make it "easy," though it is possible to use with less effectiveness at a lower weight. Breaking in the springs doesn't hurt either though. I'd say just give it some time.

Not very high. Maybe a foot. My daughter seems to have a lot of fun with it though.

Read review- great for us/7 year old struggled with spring

Great quality but spring is too tight for my 7 year old. Overall love for us adults to use with him, but for a little kid it's just hard to be strong/weigh enough to jump. We bought him a different kind that had an easier spring to get down

Great second stage pogo stick

Bought as a gift for grandson. He loved it. He will have to add a few pounds to his body as the pogo stick is a bit stiff. He was ready for the next sized stick and this fit the bill plus I could purchase it in his favorite color

Good product, but for a weight from 95-100 pounds

Works great, but I am too light to get a good bounce. I would say at least 95-100 pounds if you really want to enjoy it. Super fun otherwise, but definetly for kids over 10.
