Well made, sturdy tablet
The media could not be loaded. I resisted buying a new tablet for a long time, because I liked my old iPad so much, but UMIDIGI's G1 Tab mini price was such a great value. The tablet came charged at 91%, so it was ready to use right out of the box. I was also impressed that it came with a crystal clear silicone case and a screen protector installed - you just have to peel off the external layer marked by the paper tab, and there will be the proper protector underneath (I tried to show in my video how it works).I love the regular minijack port for headphones and the charging USB-C port on top of the laptop (unusual) - I can use regular headphones and charge the tablet while keeping it on a stand for video chat in the vertical mode. There is also a slot for a micro SD/TF card. Ignore the little instruction manual leaflet - there is no tray for the card - you just click the card into the slot. It is a bit finicky because the card is so tiny, but I hope my video shows how to do it. Just don't force anything - align things and it will work. The tablet is really well made and high quality. It is smaller than my old iPad, but thicker, so it weighs about the same. The size is actually perfect - it feels comfortable in my hands and it fits in a lady's purse. I use my tablet mostly for reading books and documents (PDF, doc), and I like the lit up screen with high resolution, the strong contrast and vibrant colors. But the G1 Tab mini is much more than just a book reader - it has all the functions of an Android tablet - you can access the internet through Chrome, log in with your Google account to access all your online content and sync the calendars. It was actually the hardest part for me - to switch from iPad to Android. I could not find settings. Until... I started thinking about this tablet like it is an Android phone (except you cannot make calls). I have Android phones and it was the turning point for my mind. Almost all the settings are in the pull down screen accessed from the home screen (I try to show it in my video how to get to all the options). There is even a flashlight and GPS locations! Just like a phone. The only missing setting in the quick access screen is "display" - I cannot find it.Overall I love this tablet and I am not afraid to take it with me on the road - it seems really sturdy and the case protects the volume buttons from dust and sand. The camera is not the greatest, but I use my regular camera during my trips. And so far, I did not have to charge the battery - it has been a few days now of using it.

Excellent entry level tablet with Android 14 (latest version 2024)
The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent entry-level tablet. For a 2024 model it is definitely modernized with the latest version of Android (Android 14), USB-C charging, and WiFi 6. It is powered by a Rockchip RK3562 CPU. There is a bit of a lag to navigate the tablet interface, but for an entry level tablet, it should be expected and should not detract from getting the tablet. This is a mini tablet (8 inch) which is perfect for the kids to use for simply games and streaming video. I have been using this for the past few weeks for email, web surfing and video streaming.Gaming performance: I have tried playing Brawl Stars, it is slow to load and there is a very slight lag to play the game. It is playable and for a casual player it is fine. But for a serious player, that ever slight lag will not be acceptable. I have played some other casual games that do not require live action play and the tablet is perfectly fine for them.Streaming: no issues at all with streaming video. Videos played smoothly, there is no lag or buffering of the videos were experienced. There is a pair of speakers on the bottom of the tablet and the sound at max level is a good loud volume. Included accessories: Included and already installed are a TPU case and a screen protector. The included charger is a USB-A connector and comes with a red 3-foot USB-A to USB-C charger cable.Tablet physical layout: At the top of the tablet is the USB-C charger port, a bit of a different location for the charging port, but a bit welcome to allow the charging the tablet while keeping it standing on a table holder. Also at the top of the tablet is a micro-SD reader and the 3.5mm headphone jack. The volume and power buttons are on the right side and work fine.Final opinion: As an entry level tablet, I think this is a great choice for $75 or under (with coupon applied). It bests similar entry level tablets by having the latest Android version 14 and having USB-C. It meets the needs for basic usage and is a great choice for kids.
