THIS SOLVED THE ISSUE OF HDD FREQUENT DISCONNECTIONS AND CLICKING NOISE.
One of the most important thing which no one has mentioned in the reviews is that this Transcend USB 4-port powered hub can be used to connect external HDD(s) to TV. I was having some issues when I was connecting my Seagate external HDD to my Sony Bravia TV. Many a times, either the external HDD was not detected by the TV or there were frequent disconnections. The most annoying thing was the repeated clicking sound that the HDD would make (due to insufficient power) when connected with TV. I was really concerned about this loud clicking noise and hence avoided connecting any of my external HDD with my TV fearing that the HDD might get damaged resulting in loss of my precious data.Today, when I connected my Seagate external 1TB HDD with my Bravia TV through this hub, it was immediately detected by TV and I didn't hear any clicking sound. Just for experiment sake, I connected one more USB 2.0 external 500GB HDD along with the 1TB HDD. To my surprise, the TV detected both the HDD’s and there were no disconnections, no clicking noise whatsoever. From my experience, I know that the USB 2.0 external HDD’s which used to come 5-6 years back are power hungry and require much more power to run as compared to now-a-days USB 3.0 HDD’s. The 12V/1.5A power adapter which comes with it provides sufficient and stable power required by those external HDD’s. Therefore, it is very much advisable to use this powered hub when connecting external HDD to TV, since the TV’s USB port generally doesn't provide adequate power due to which there are high chances of HDD getting damaged. Remember, “Better safe than sorry”.In order to check the data transfer speed, I connected 3 external Seagate HDD'S (1x500GB and 2x1TB) and 1 32GB pendrive to my laptop through this hub. All the 4 HDD’s worked flawlessly and I got great transfer speeds around 100-120 MB/s. (Note: Transfer speeds depends on many factors like CPU speed, type of storage media etc).I would definitely recommend this product; if you use two or more USB devices and want to avoid wear and tear of your laptop’s USB port, frequently transfer large amounts of data and want fast transfer speeds, often connect external HDD with TV and then yes of course you can also use it to fast charge your smartphones, iPad's and other usb devices.I am totally satisfied by Amazon’s pricing, packaging, tracking information and prompt delivery. Amazon is offering lowest price for this item compared to other websites/online retailers.

Quality Powered USB Hub
This powered USB hub connects the upstream USB host (which has to be necessarily a laptop or a PC) to multiple downstream USB devices such as mouse, wifi / bluetooth dongles, portable hard-disc drives etc., while providing the requisite power exactly at 5V to the downstream devices in case they require power beyond what the host laptop's / PC can provide. The USB 2.0-Bus of the host laptop / PC usually provides only upto 500 mA of power @ 5V. On the other hand, in case of devices such as portable external HDDs, a minimum of 900 mA power is required for them to run smoothly (otherwise, lot of clicking noise will be heard from the HDD, and the life of the HDD gets reduced). This powered USB hub can provide that extra power besides facilitating data-transfer between the host laptop / PC and the devices. The Transcend powered USB hub is also great at strictly regulating the voltage at 5V, unlike certain Chinese powered USB hubs which do not do a good job at it and cause back-current. Back-current due to excess voltage can eventually damage the equipment to which such a powered hub is connected.ONE WORD OF CAUTION!This is not an OTG hub. In other words, the host / upstream device has to be a PC or a laptop. It cannot connect a smart device such as an Android tablet at the upstream, with a keyboard at the downstream.

value for money, great functionality.
Excellent product. The external power adapter ensures that even high current drawing devices are working smoothly with your system. I am able to power my USB 3.0 external HDDs (WD Elements 2TB HDD mini) perfectly! However, one minus point seems to be that unless the external power adapter is on, the hub does not seem to function at all. That is, that your hub will only work when it IS POWERED ON. It'd have been a good thing to support low drain devices without external power. But in my particular case, I am ok with this small issue, as I power my hub through my UPS.

Functional, Value for Money USB 3.0 Hub
I wanted a USB-based docking solution for my MacBook Pro Retina 13" that could connect to the following devices seamlessly:1. Transcend 25M3 Portable HDD (5400 rpm drive)2. Bose USB Audio3. TVS-e Gold Bharat USB Mechanical Keyboard4. Airtel 4G DongleWhile the last three products aren't really that difficult for a USB hub to handle, the Transcend external HDD certainly is. It was clear that I needed a powered USB hub to handle the power requirements of the Transcend drive to ensure I got decent Read/Write Speeds. After much research, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Transcend TS-HUB3K as it was the best value for money USB 3.0 Hub I could find in India.I am now getting *slightly* better read and write speeds *with* the HDD routed through this USB hub. I'm extremely happy with the product. Apart from the functionality, the aesthetics of the product are also commendable. I like the way Transcend decided to give it a glossy finish, which is a dust magnet, but nonetheless adds a powerful punch to the overall aesthetics of the product. The port placement on this hub is extremely practical and it shouldn't be a problem to hook up four devices at the same time even if they bulged near the USB port. The only gripe I have with the product is that the upstream USB cable provided with the product was too small for my needs. However, getting a USB 3.0 Male-Female extender solved that for me!TL;DR: If you're looking for a functional USB hub at a decent budget in India, look no further!
