Signing Naturally Student Workbook, Units 7-12

This resource was very helpful for my class. It was extremely convenient that then video segments came with a download code to review instead of having a CD since my computer does not had a CD rom. The book was also cheaper that the college bookstore.

I bought this for ASL 102 in college and loved it! The book is easy to understand and the videos on the CD were exactly the right level for me. I bought this book on Amazon because it was cheaper than buying it through my school and I want to be able to refer back to these chapters next semester. The package included all of the things outlined and came in perfect condition. I highly recommend this for students or anyone learning ASL. Put in the hours and soon you'll be signing fluently!

It is a good workbook and used intensely in class. This one is different and better than the "Vista" version of the same title. I bought both trying to get the most affordable book for college and many textbook search engines seemed to get the two confused. This one has a lot more information and student user friendly. You are probably only going to buy this if required for a class. I believe it to be a good value with the content and DVDs. I am glad to have purchased new. I usually rent or buy textbooks used.

What arrived was exactly what I needed for my son's class.

The book comes with 2 disks, one for units 7-9 and the other for units 10-12. I received two 7-9 disks, but one of them was labeled as a 10-12 disk so I didn't know it was wrong until I tried it! After contacting the seller, they sent me a replacement 10-12 disk so overall I'm quite pleased with them. The book is fine, but no replacement for watching someone sign (so the disks are very helpful). I got the book for a class.

I needed this textbook for a class. I specifically needed either the DVDs included or the access code for the assignments in the book. I tried renting a used one from this seller and it did not include DVDs or access code. However, I bought a new one from this seller, after getting a refund for the rental, and it does include both the access code and both DVDs. I recommend students who need this for a class to buy it new from this seller. Great product and great quality.

As advertised, new, arrived quickly

First of all, ASL has to be seen, not read, so studying this is all about the DVDs, not the book. The little black & white pictures in the book are not meant for learning the signs, more as reminders.PROs:- the dialogues and the videos on the DVD are the best, most professional clips I’ve seen, very clear and at a reasonable speed- there are a lot of explanations of the nuances of signing (directionality, spatial agreement, role shifts) that I wasn’t getting from my instructor- the dialogues and exercises in the book are well thought out and useful, and the vocab is extensiveCONs:- the answer key to the exercises is incomplete – this is a big problem because there is no way to look up a sign that you don’t understand- some of the new signs are explained only in pictures – which effectively left many signs unclear and some even completely unexplained- most importantly, there are no lists for the vocabulary, nor an index. That means you can only work your way through the book linearly, but you cannot look up a sign that you forgot, unless you happen to remember what section it might be in.So overall, I found that going through this book taught me a lot that was glossed over in my class, but having done that, it has no further use as reference. The lack of a full index or vocabulary list is a serious deficiency.(For looking up words, I would recommend using the various free online dictionaries, especially using several of them because there is a lot of variation in signs, as well as in the quality of the clips.)Lastly, I had some trouble with one of the DVDs, so make sure you buy this from a reputable source that allows returns!
