No, if your differential calls for the additive, you have to add some anyways. This is the case with dodge differentials 8.25" and 9.25" in the rears with limited slip. The OEM manual should say to add it if its limited slip or has trak-lok. Excerpt from manual "Trac-lok™ equipped axles require a friction modifier be added to the lubricant."

Not knowing the specifications for gear oil *rear end oil" for Mercedes, which I expect will be the same as most every automobile since about 1990 or thereabouts, This Lucas oil is the best there is. Most auto manufactures spec oils and greases with "proprietary" numbers, but the product on the inside of the can has the same specifications pretty much.
