Great product!! almost got scammed into buying a Hayward at the pool store for 450 dollars...This pump is more than superior for my Intex 22'x52" above ground pool. I would recommend this product(even the pool store said its the same as a Hayward for half the price( I paid 199 for mine) the price seemed to jump a little as we entered may. The directions are of no help and because it was an intex pool i had to reconfigure how I set it up. Great product even after 1 week i didnt need to back wash( I did anyways) they say the dirtier the sand is the better it cleans and they are right!

It's amazing how well this works! We've had a horrible time cleaning and balancing our pool! We purchased a larger filter to accommodate a much larger size pool that we are planning to purchase soon! Our pool size is 18' round!

The product came in 6 parts I believe. But using the instructions everything came together within a few minutes. The screws to mount the motor to the base board was tricky. There are several bolt patterns due to the various motors that can potentially be used with this product. At times I felt none of these patterns will work for me. Once I found a pattern that worked with the motor everything went together quickly. However the nut installs on the bottom, the bolts are inserted from the top along with the HEAVY motor. I did this install solo, but a partner for assistance will speed things up. The container takes three 50lb bags of sand, which can be picked up at any pool store. Not expensive. The only reason I did not give this product five stars is water coming out of the backwash outlet during filtration. My fix was to cork it with a 1&1/2 inch pvc stopper I purchased from Lowes. However BCP sent a free replacement multiport valve which I still have not installed. But so far, pool is 100% crystal clear.

I've had no problems with this filter/pump assembly. I saw complaints about the fittings not sealing properly, but they probably did not use any sealing compound or Teflon Tape (which is what I used) around the threads of the fittings as you would any other threaded plumbing fittings. I wrapped a pretty thick layer of teflon tape around all of the fittings prior to installing them and only had a minor drip on the inlet side that stops as soon as you start pumping the water through the system. The pump is pretty high pressure and gives good circulation in my 16x24 Oval Doughboy pool and the filter works fine and has the water crystal clear. I do wish they had installed a timer on the pump housing or at least an on/off switch on the motor, but the only control you have is plug in or unplug to control operation. I generally run mine 24/7 anyway, so not a huge issue, but it would be nice to be able to save a little electricity, but I don't think it pulls a whole lot anyway. That's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, it was easy to assemble and I think it works great so far. Still running strong 1 month after installation. Hoping the pump and motor will last at least 3 or 4 seasons.

Works perfect. i have had it for almost a year with no problems. I believe most of the negative reviews come from user error and also that because it didn't just hook right up to the pool and install itself that some people just couldn't help but to give it a bad review. And that's neither the products fault are the manufacturers fault. Just remember Its a universal product that will work for lots of applications how it is going to work for you is what you will have to use your brain for and figure it out.

This baby works ! .... hooked it up to my 4' tall x 15' round above ground pool to replace the piece of garbage that came with the walmart brand pool. It was so powerful that it actually collapsed the old skimmer !Do yourself three favors if you have or are buying an above ground pool:- buy this pump and toss the factory one;- buy a replacement skimmer ( I bought the Hayward SP1091LX Dyna-Skim Above-Ground Pool )- buy the auto sucker/cleaner machine ( hooks up to skimmer and moves around pool sucking up dirt, i bought knock-off brand for about 100.00 )The factory pump took about 4 hours to clean light dirt off bottom with factory vacuum (with about 6 filter cleanings), the new pump took about 5 minutes........FYI, home depot carries a full line of hoses and parts for spas and pools, but are very expensive. They carry several pumps that look about the same, and are about the same price, but are a little less horsepower.

The reason I am not happy is it stopped after 3 weeks we are now waiting for new one. We notified them on Monday it is now Saturday the pool water is a mess so the cost to put chemicals in will be costly to get it back to what it should be and still waiting for a pump. I am not impressed that knowing pools need to be filtered the company don't bother to rush the item out to customers. We also bought a extra warranty with this pump. If the next pump is a functional one I will update my review.

Had this for one season (3 months) and the pump died. I winterized and kept the pump itself in the garage for the season, but when I hooked it up this year and fired it up, the motor just hums at me and it won’t kick on. I made sure the impeller was clear, turned the turbine with a screw driver to ensure there wasn’t corrosion, even went so far as trying to jump start it using my drill motor all with no success. The internet says you can replace the start capacitor in situations like that as long as your pump has a start capacitor. This one doesn’t. If you want to roll the dice on this unit, make sure you grab the warranty.
