How long do they last before needing replacement?

Unless you are extremely hard on t hem they really should last for a life time. The measurements are carved into the ruler not just printed on.

How do you get the water out of the water trap?

The end caps are pressed on, you just work one end cap off, pour the water out and then press the cap back on piece of cake!

Do I have to cut the tubing to install?

The hose does not need to be cut to use the water trap. -The water trap is designed to connect between the hose to the Oxygen (O2; the oxygen tank or condenser - see 08 second video) and the hose to the cannula (for your nose). -If you are using your cannula directly connected to the O2, you can buy additional short hoses called 'Humidifier Connector Adapter Tube for O2 Concentrator' (in sizes of 12" to 50') to attach the water trap to the O2, then use the cannula to connect to the other end of the water trap. -If you can get the Connector Adapter Tube (not available or can not afford it), then I would try cutting the tube in half and trying to force it over the water traps ends. It might work just as well as the water traps ends are cone-shaped, and the cannula hose is bendable. Hope this, and the video, help answer your question.
