🕰️ Build Time, Build Memories!
The K'NEX Grandfather Clock is the largest K'NEX set ever created, featuring over 9,000 parts, a towering height of 7 feet, and a fully functional clock face with a swinging pendulum and sound chimes. Designed for ages 16 and up, it includes a plug-in motor and requires 3 'AA' batteries (not included), making it a perfect project for aspiring engineers and creative minds.

Imperfect but enjoyable build
Interesting choice for the largest K'Nex set in existence as of this year! As entertaining and educational family builds go, I'm still hoping for a truly legendary ball machine, and this model does have a few flaws. First, the instructions need some sorting out: the written directions say to mount the clock movement with the battery compartment at the bottom, but all of the images show it at the top. (The written instructions turn out to be the correct ones, and it's important to get it right so that the chimes will sound at the correct time.) Second, it would have been nice if the moving K'Nex parts could have included some of the functional clock parts themselves, as opposed to the purely decorative (and somewhat jerky) pendulum motion. Obviously there's no way to design an accurate timekeeper with only K'Nex parts, but a little extra R&D could have at least allowed the use of some attractive K'Nex clock hands, and that doesn't seem like too much to ask from a model that originally retailed for a whopping $999. (Based on the pricing of other K'Nex models, neither the design costs nor the number of parts included really justify that price tag, so it's good that Amazon now sells it for half of that.) Still, despite these issues, the clock does have ongoing practicality and a fair amount of elegance going for it, and K'Nex fans should be able to find a place of honor for it in their homes.

clock mechanism is not knex.
Clock face has no knex part, just battery powered. The pendulum runs on Knex motor, but the motor failed after a few months. Overall it's a big statue made of knex but is uninteresting structurally or mechanically.

I've always loved putting these sets together
I've always loved putting these sets together, and I was looking for something more advanced. While no K'nex set will ever really be "difficult", this set wasn't complicated, and the instructions were easy enough to follow. I'm 26, and this took me a few hours after work for two weeks to put together. I'd put my time at around 20-25 hours, and I took my time. It was a lot of fun to build.I subtracted 1 star because of the included clock pieces. They were flimsy, the clockface was bent during shipping, and the chime was connected to the clock with some very thin wire. I straightened the clockface and threw out the clock and chime. I purchased a new clock and made my own chime, which I think made this set a lot better once I was finished.TLDR: I'd recommend this set when it is priced in the $500 range. $1000 seems pretty steep.

I really like the set
I really like the set. But the fact that there was a couple of pieces missing is just not okay.

Four Stars
Clock is great but the decorative pendulum mechanism is noisy and doesn't seem to work right.

Amazing K'NEX set!
This K'NEX set, which is the very largest in existence, is very well-constructed. I have almost completed the build and have enjoyed putting it together. This is a great kit for any K'NEX or building toy enthusiast who has some cash to burn!EDIT: I finished the build and unfortunately the clock only chimes three minutes after the hour, which is rather frustrating after spending so much money and time on this. I contacted K'NEX, but they haven't responded as of yet.

Great for young and old
Great for young and old. This was the first project taken on after retirement. It took about 9 days to complete, and, after two years, is still displayed prominently, working perfectly, keeping the correct time, and "bonging" on the hour. The clock works silently, but the just-for-show motorized pendulum made noise, so it was deactivated. Both fun, and creative!
