Q: How is this to be used with Compressor and Overdrive pedals before the amp?

To use this noise reducer with the overdrive and a compressor before the amp you will connect the aformentioned pedals to the noise reducer loop from the send output..so send from nr..to either com or od (whichever u choose first)then to next pedal then to the return of the nr then connect from the output of the nr to the input of your amp.Connect guitar to the input of the nr.So the od and com is in the nr's effects loop.

Q: I have an 80's fender tube amp that produces an obnoxious buzz with NO guitar plugged into it. Will this help if I add it via the effects loop?

Maybe...and maybe not. My 70 ' s Bass man and Deluxe reverb generate the usual tube amp hiss and a little 60 cycle hum if really cranked but nothing going like what you describe. Your noise could be coming from some shady capacitors or somewhere other than the output section where a noise gate can be helpful. I'd get my amp checked out first.
