John Wiley And Sons Teaching With Heart: Poetry That Speaks to the Courage to Teach

What a wonderful book. It speaks to me on so many levels - as a former student; as an admirer of the teachers that everyday fill my children with wonder, confidence and knowledge; and as a believer that education is by far the best and most reliable path to achievement regardless of where you start on the road. I will be giving a copy of the book to all of my children's teachers and administrators because I know that that they will laugh and cry and learn and grow from the words that are shared on these pages.

Once again Sam Intrator and Megan Scribner have brought to print the courageousvoices of a multitude of teachers speaking to and for their colleagues and students inclassrooms across the nation and around the globe. Parker J. Palmer's foreword,Taylor Mali's introduction and Sarah Brown Wessling's afterword are power-filled.What a great time of year for this amazing collection of writing and poetic witness.Chip Wood

This was listed as new, and it was not new. It had a sticker on the inside front page indicating it was a gift to teachers from a local Parent Teacher Organization.

Even thought my poem PURPLE is in here, I have to say that this is a really beautiful book and every teacher ought to have a copy.

Lovely book, Glad I have it to read when I want to be quieter than usual. I think how nice a gift it would make.

The perfect gift for a favorite teacher or educator!!!

I'm on the lookout for Christmas gifts, reasonably priced, for family members because it is never too early to start which is why I selected this book. It isn't a book about teaching methods per se, which I often select, but a book on inspiration for teachers and I really like author Intrator's format for "Teaching with Heart" which is a mix of story and poetry. Each entry is a vignette by an educator and it is followed by a poem. It could be Emily Dickinson or Langston Hughes or a poet that I've never heard of but I like both the vignettes and I like poetry in these small doses.I think it would appeal to one teacher in the family as she is one who appreciates poetry more than most of us so I need this in mind.

Excellent motivational book for teachers.
