Yes, the subtitles are poorly translated...
This will probably be one of the few reviews by a native English speaker who is also fairly fluent in Russian. I read the reviews which were widely critical of the translation subtitles. Yes, the subtitles are poorly translated. Either they are a literal computer voice analysis, or the person who did them uniformly did not do a correct idiomatic translation. Simple examples: (I will use the Latin alphabet instead of Cyrillic) the word "Yest' " is translated as "There is." And literally, that is correct. But "Yest' " in this context means "Yes, Sir!" Another example: "Preyom" is translated as "reception" or "received" in the subtitles. This would be better translated in an aviation/space environment as "Roger," an acknowledgement. In any case the majority of the translation is understandable, just not well translated idiomatically. It is also helpful when watching this film to either understand cultural norms in the former USSR or have a source to explain them. The visuals and visual effects are excellent. This review is by a retired Colonel/ US military aviator who has worked with NASA and has spent time in Star City, Moscow Russia.

Great screenplay of an exciting, true story, but . . .
it's a DVD and the subtitle translation into English is poor. If I hadn't seen this movie on Amazon Prime Movies (in 1080P) I couldn't have sat through this. I liked the Amazon version so much I wanted to add it to my personal collection. Problem is that the only high definition version is Spanish dubbed . You have to give it up for Amazon Prime Movies for putting together a brilliant hi-def version with excellent English subtitles. This version is a bit of a let down.

Russian Apollo 13
A disaster, a rescue, another disaster and a fire. That is Salyut 7 in a nutshell. There is plenty in between and makes for an exciting adventure about the only space station ever lost, then repaired and put back into action. If you liked Apollo 13, then this is for you.

Surprisingly good film.
This film shows that Hollywood has nothing on some of the Russian movies. A fascinating film, well constructed, with great acting, and good CGI. Great story.

Translation is atroucious.
This is a very good movie. I watched it on Amazon Fire Stick and it was excellent. I wanted a personal copy but on the DVD version the English translation is atroucious. Stay with the Fire Stick version.

Bad English Translation
Good movie, but has horrible English subtitles, thus making the movie a lot less enjoyable.

Spaceflight Drama Real Life
Great Directing, Director: Boris Khlebnikov Excellent work. Excellent interaction with CGI and set design. Great Actors and ActressesSeamless in putting you the observer right up in space along side the Cosmonaut's and Russian Mission Control. This movie captures a real life drama of losing the Saylut 7 and all of it's secrets to their counter parts in the US Space Program. This film portrays more than that of a countries struggle to to be the best and keep it's state secrets. This movie shows what Cosmonauts and their families struggles with in living life in a risky business being a part of the Space Program in Russia and their life and death decisions of how to survive with the overwhelming odds of making the Salyut Space Station livable. This movie is a must for sci-fy fans alike and more. The story line keeps you riveted to what is going to happen next and how they will survive and get back to their loving families and friends. This is a must for spaceflight fans showing the artistic mastery of Cinematography.Actors:Excellent acting by:Mikhail BabichevAleksandr SamoylenkoKseniya BuravskayaFormer spouseSergey GazarovLyubov AksyonovaAleksandr Yatsenko
