Gabriel Sovulewski: The Life and Letters of Yosemite's Master Trail Builder Paperback – July 1, 2001

Curiously, Amazon has misstated the publication date of this short book about the Master Trail Builder of Yosemite National Park. It was published in 2011, not 2001! If you have any interest in Yosemite NP, this is an informative and easy book to read. Gabriel was involved in Yosemite from its very early days, with his first stint there in 1893 for four years. He left an indelible mark on the park and we have him to thank for iconic trails in Yosemite. Gabriel was a dedicated, devoted NP employee for many, many years. At the time of his retirement in 1937, he was the longest serving employee in the history of the National Park Service. With the National Park Service Centennial coming in 2016, this would be a fine read about the history of a pioneering NPS employee who set a high standard for stewardship of our treasured national parks.
