Quality Bike with room to grow at 1/2 price of name brand LBS rides.
For the $500 price point, this bike is comparable to your LSB's $1,000 models. Though I like to provide support to your LBS, I was reluctant to pay double for a comparable Deore Derailleur equipped base level mountain bike. Always start with expectations to ride more mountain bike rides than I end up pursuing.Had some support issues that were promptly and quickly resolved both from the Amazon Reseller level with some directly inaction with Gravity bikes USA.I am going to highlight some negatives that, for $500, I don't think should cause you any concern. Again, you are paying 1/2 for a bike you would get at the LBS.1. Some components are really cheap. These include: Saddle (replaced immediately with an extra road bike saddle I had). If you have done anything more that a few weekend rides on flat trails, purchase a new saddle along with this bike. There as some nice $50 saddles from Ritchey sold at Amazon that fit the bill.Seat post quick release on one the two bikes came with the rivet supporting the quick release lever. The 2nd bike there was no problem. Gravity offered to reimburse me for the replacement clamp I purchased ($25 Profile) but I don't think that was necessary. The clamp was appropriate for the price point.2. One of the two bikes was damaged in shipping. The damaged part was the derailleur hanger. These are designed to break so the rest of the frame isn't damaged if you rip something across your derailleur. I discovered the problem on Friday and the reseller had a new one to me by the next Friday. None of the LBS had a universal hanger that would fit. If you are going to do any real trail riding, you might want to purchase a spare. This feature is on ALL quality bikes. I don't know whether this particular hanger is softer than comparable models.I don't know how long these components will last, if you start really riding. The frame appears to be quality enough at if you grow into more riding it will support upgrades.Both the reseller and company have been very responsive.
