Very accurate if you allow it to recoil between measurements
Great product but its not as durable as it could be. It is very accurate as long as you let it retract fully between measurements. That is where I think people go wrong and get inaccurate measurements. I can get same measurement repeatedly to .1 of an inch. After about 700 measurement the vinyl end ripped. No different than a retractable metal tape measure. The spring loaded recoil will eventually damage the end. If you are careful with it when allowing it to recoil, I'm sure you can get 2000+ measurements. At such a low price you are getting your money's worth.

Works Great!
I do a lot of clothes shopping on Amazon. The sizing varies so much from vendor to vendor, I have to keep a tape measure handy to make sure I get a good fit. How wonderful it is to have a tape measure that can remember all my measurements. I don't have to measure again until I lose or gain weight. This tape measure is easy to use and accurate. I compared readings to my traditional tape measure and they agreed. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Poor design, waste of money
This item is the worst waste of money ever. I bought this to track my weight lose, and it broke becoming unusable within 2 months. The main problem is that the peg that locks the tape measure into place broke within days of use. I was able to use it very carefully for a while, making sure both ends of the peg were held together so that the tape measure would work. Inevitably what happened is that both sides of the peg fell off and the tape measure became stuck inside the body of the device, rendering it completely unusable. Both my husband and I have tried to open up the body of the device to release the measuring tape, but nothing has worked. I amextremely disappointed in this item, and although it's been less than 2 months since purchase, I am not eligible for an exchange or refund. DO NOT BUY THIS TAPE MEASURE. It will only lead to frustration. In addition to breaking within weeks, it was hard to use by myself and often required 1/2 a dozen attempts to yield a result. There were many error messages, and some days I just lost patience and didn't bother using it. I think I will look for a manual device rather than a digital one since this model seems to be the only digital version available through Amazon.

A Bit Big And Hard To Get Consistent Measurements
Overall, this product is pretty good. However, it can be a bit hard to get consistent measurements. I usually take at least 2 measurements of the same body part and then average them. They can be up to an inch and a half off from one another. But this might just be my fault and not the product's.The product is a bit wide, so it might be wider than some of your body parts (it's wider than my wrists and forearms for example (I am a 5'6" girl)). Therefore, there will be a noticeable gap between your body and the tape (near the unit). So you know the measurement isn't correct.I also wish the product would have included some tips for measuring yourself, such as how tight the tape should be, in what position you should measure each body part, etc. Also, be careful not to connect the tape the wrong way. The picture doesn't really show this, but the tape is permanently connected to one end of the unit (where the tape comes out) and the other end of the tape can be connected or disconnected from the unit as needed. If you accidentally rotate the tape, you might connect it to the unit backwards. It can be a pain to get it disconnected again if you do this, so watch out.As an FYI, these are the body parts the product measures. It will record your last measurement for each part for you. But you can choose to just ignore the body part it says and measure whatever you want:* Neck* Shoulders* Chest* Bicept (1 side only)* Waist* Hips* Thigh (1 side only)* Calf (1 side only)

Great for health, and also online clothes shopping
I've had a lifestyle change and have been working out daily for the last few months and have lost quite a bit of weight. I've wound up picking up a habit of monitoring my weight, activity levels, calorie intake, etc. It is cathartic as much as it is motivating: the ability to directly quantify actions and their results. Being able to monitor my body's progress, in terms of measurements, is a good thing, and I wish I had picked up one of these sooner. This tape measure is exceedingly easy to use, but make sure you calibrate it first. (With the measure fully retracted, press the power and select button at same time). The last measurement memory is helpful, but since it only stores the last single measurement, I still think logging them in a workbook or spreadsheet is best.Even if you aren't someone with a big fitness goal, this gadget has great utility if you do a lot of clothes shopping online. Ever since I got a Prime subscription years ago, most of my clothes shopping has shifted to online purchases. When it comes to clothes, each manufacturer has different sizing charts for what they consider small, medium, large, etc. I never really knew my measurements; because returns are free here, I just ordered until I found something that fit. It kind of wasted a lot of time and negated the benefits of free two day shipping.A lot of clothing listings on Amazon don't have specific sizing charts available, but you can find exact sizing charts on most clothing manufacturer's websites. Reference the manufacturer's sizing, buy inexpensively on Amazon (or wherever), and worry less about having to return and reorder. The saved time will pay for this gadget many times over. Very happy with my purchase.
