Playstar Ps 1155 Poly Float Hollow Core

Q: Is this foam filled or air filled?

PlayStar Marine Dock Floats PS 1155 are not filled with any additional materials. We do not fill them so that if the float somehow would get punctured or torn open there are no additional contaminants or harmful materials to impact the environment or wildlife. Our Floats have 500 lbs of buoyancy each and will float in as little as 1 1/2" of water.

Q: What is the best way to attach them together? I’m going to put 3 together to make a 4x9 shallow water dock to exit the pontoon boat

I am not sure they will stay still for you unless you attach to poles that are anchored into the bottom of body of water. Extra long 30" zip ties can be combined to have extra length. I only used one to prop up a floating dock that had a hole. Extreme buoyancy.

Q: How do you attach wood to this float? Can you screw wood to the float? I want to use these floats to create a boat dock. Can I do this?

You have two options. One, build a wood frame, preferably out of cedar 2x6. The floats have holes molded into the float that allow you to lag screw the float to the frame, from the bottom, the frame resting on the float. Two, buy the aluminum frame that PlayStar makes to go with these floats. Then you can bolt the float to the aluminum frame. I used the aluminum frame because I never wanted to redo my dock again. I used stainless steel screws to screw 2x6 cedar decking to the frame. It would also work to use 5/4 cedar decking. If you don't like the look of the aluminum frame, you can skirt it with cedar, as I did.
