Yes, it will work, just know that there's no dvd player in this unit, and the storage is limited. High school or college work may be distributed in cd/dvd format, so as long as you how to convert cd/dvd into portable format i.e. usb or sd, then you'll be ok.

What is the external graphics capability? Can it run a 4K external monitor?

Yes, I have this model and it outputs desktop 4K 30fps just fine to my TV. Don't expect it to game at all, or to play back 4K video particularly well, but for web browsing and desktop applications it does in fact work. Typically I have it set up with a tripple-head setup with the on-board display, display port out to a 28" 1200p display, and a USB3 dock with another 1080p display and that works a bit smoother than hooking it up to a 4K display.

Can I get it shipped to India directly from Amazon?
