butter knife - Lovely gifts with cool design

Well made and attractive. All the one star reviews that say this doesn't work are just wrong. I can only assume they are just not the personality type to figure out the angles for best performance. I paid full price for it and I think its an awesome tool to have. It also works on semi-soft cheeses. I think perhaps people are hung up on the thought of spreading, but the ribbons really only need to be positioned and smushed a little on toast to get the desired distribution. I think this is an item that's best given as a gift only if the person you are giving it to has seen you use it properly, otherwise it could be dropped in a drawer and forgotten. I find myself inventing reasons to use it... but who really needs a REASON for using butter?

It does not work as well as shown in the picture and as described.

I really didn't know what to expect with this. But I really like how lightweight it is. It works really well and I find it is a pleasure to use. Since it is not a knife, it won't tear up the wrapping.Great invention!

I sincerely believe the 5 star ratings have been bought or induced by a discount offered for feedback as referenced by several reviewers. Though it does work better for me than it does in the video demonstration, I find extremely serious design flaws. None of the cutting edges are sharp enough nor are the openings large enough nor at the best angle. That means a great deal of pressure is required. To use the small channel on the end your finger rests over the the long curl opening creating a hazard. It is impossible to use it on the entire stick of butter. It is in the donate box already and I am back using the box grater which I have used for years. It is sharper, openings larger, angled better and it will do the whole butter stick with much less effort. We need not mention the price difference. The stylish box the knife came in is amazing. I am keeping it.

Well now,...we got this wild looking butter knife to see what it really does. I must say it looks very creative and interesting so we pulled out the hard block of butter from the fridge to give it a trial run.We tried all the areas of the knife on the block of butter and it does work like it claims to so we were satisfied with its quality and functuality. The reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a five is because it's very messy to use holding the stick of butter with one hand and knifing it with the other. Then once you get the butter on the bread it is still hard to spread and we still ripped the bread spreading it. Now the fun factor is there for kids and adults alike so we did have fun playing with it....but if you are in a hurry and think this is going to be the fastest solution, it will not be. It also carves up the butter block so it looks like a ravenous animal dug into it so your pretty block of butter looks pretty ugly when you are done.I would recommend getting one to play with with your kids or grandkids...or to play with it yourself but realize it's not going to be quick and clean but will be messy and fun!

I was really excited upon getting this item. It came in a nice box that gave a luxury feel to it. The knife itself was well made and beautiful but my complaint is that it didn't always work. This knife was designed to work on HARD butter and it lives up to that promise. I was able to shred my butter that just came out of the fridge allowing for easy spreading. So that's the positive side. The downside, what happens a minute or two later when I start on my second slice of toast? The butter had time to sit out and the outer layer reaches room temp and softens. This is where the knife fails. Once the butter softens, the knife no longer shreds and pretty much acts like a normal knife except that butter gets stuck in the holes. Cleaning was much more difficult than a regular knife and that negates whatever convenience the knife provided in the first place.

I Love this knife.I have seen other products that do one of the features this knife does,but after reading reviews decided this time you get what you pay for.This is all metal construction so it's not going to break with the cold butter also I only have 1 item to clean unlike all the others I saw that stored your stick and shaved some on your toast then used a knife to spread it.All the reviews said wouldn't hold a whole stick or cracked after a couple uses now I can't speak how well those products work I didn't buy them I spent a bit more and believe I have the better product.I will purchase this item many more times as gifts.

We love using this! It makes beautiful butter curls. We also spaghetti’d the butter & froze it prior to our holiday dinner. Works great to butter corn on the cob too.
