Is the cord 50cm with an extra 5cm extension (55cm total) ? Or is the total of cord and extension 50cm ?

The entire cord is 19 1/2 inches. Just the black cord end to end is 16 1/2 inches. So far I like them and the clasps have been working. I bought some before from a trade show and all the clasps had to be changed out. So far so good and I like the length.

Will a bead with a 4mm hole fit on this ? If not, is part of the fastener able to be removed to allow a pendant or bead with a smaller hole to fit ?
