Stephen King DVD Collector Set (Misery / The Dark Half / Needful Things / Carrie)

The price for 4 dvds is good!

If you have looked at the movies made from Stephen King's books, you'll notice that many of them just don't measure up. However, the big-screen horror films that did the best job are right here in this collection. You've got two award-worthy performances in Carrie and Misery, and The Dark Half and Needful Things are nothing to laugh at either.The acting and effects are very well done in all these movies (which certainly cannot be said about all of King's films), and the overall quality of all four films makes this a great buy and my favorite of all the commercially available "Stephen King Collections."

One of the movies was damaged prior to shipping. I only wanted to exchange that one. I was denied. I had to purchase another copy of that movie so I went to another retailer. The other 3 movies are in great condition.

The discs are of good quality and didn't give me any problems when playing them. And as I suggest with any movie that is based on a book, read the book. The movie can't possibly give you the same experience as the book because it can't pay attention to the details and back stories. It was a good purchase. It would make a nice gift.

I've always had a thing about Stephen King movies. Love my horror movies and this was a great set to get. I already owned Carrie, but it didn't have the extras that the box set copy had, so I gave my original copy to a friend and kept the copy from the box set. I'm very happy with this box set :)

I do love Kathy Bates, and so I enjoyed Misery with her and her co-star James Caan. Needful Things was lacking in explanation, pacing and sequence. I do like Max Von Sidow, and I was curious about his performance as the devil in this film as he had made quite a notable performance years ago as Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told. I was disappointed with the lack of good direction here. The Dark Half is an early rendition of The Secret Window and I much prefer the latter. Timothy Hutton has the lead role in The Dark Half, and a supporting role in The Secret Window, and he is much better in The Secret Window with Johnny Depp doing a far superior job as the troubled writer. If you come across Carrie with Sissy Spacek, and Misery with Kathy Bates as separate films, they are worth buying. The other two , not so much. Generally, don’t put too much money into this collection. You will come up short.

I like some of Stephen Kings movies. This set would appeal to the die hard King fans, some of his older stuff. They are dark but give you things to think about.

Let me just say that I am HUGE Stephen King fan. I read a lot of his books and saw most of the movies based on his books/short stories.This was a nice collection of movies. Carrie, The Dark Half, and Misery are three of my favorite books by SK. Therefore, it was no surprise that I actually liked these movies. They follow the book nicely and were decently done (considering that they were 70s, 80s, and 90s movies). The last Movie (Needful things) was just alright. I think buying this bundle is definitely worth it, even if you say that only three of these movies are good.
