Diamondback Holmes U-Lock with Cable Bicycle Lock Set, Black

I've been using this lock with my bike for a long time now, and its a great value for the price. The ulock is very sturdy, and comes with two keys so you have a spare. The only issue I've had with that part of it is that sometims the little clip part on the lock slides up and I will have trouble locking it. I have to slide the clip back down in order to fix it and lock it. The cable part of the lock is great length and fits perfectly so I can lock both my front and back wheel. I added a carabiner to it though so I can wrap it on my bike and secure it when I am biking.

This came so highly rated. I'm disappointed with what I received.Firstly it's the weight of a small child. If - like me - you enjoy the fact that your bike is lightweight, strapping this to your bike in any fashion is not something you'll want to do.Secondly, it came with missing screws. "Attach this bit to your bike and clip the lock in" it says. But the screws it shows in the picture aren't there. And I sure don't have any just lying around.Lastly, the "clip the lock in" part. Yeah that didn't work either, because the clip part (that actually had a screw) was in the way of the clip being able to get pushed in.So back it goes. Shame really as I'd had really high hopes after reading reviews for about 30 different locks...

The metal bar part seem really sturdy. I just started using it this week, but no issues so far. The key also fits in and turns fairly easily. All in all, I like the man bar lock so far. The cable that it comes with is far too short to do anything with, though. Depending on where you place the lock on the bike, you may be able to secure one tire with it, but absolutely not both. I'm using it with a standard road bike, so my bike isn't particularly big or anything. For me its really quite useless, which is a bummer because I got it for the wire cord to lock up my tires. The piece that lets you attach the lock to the bike to the bike is also a little wonky. It takes some effort to get it clicked in and out. It's certainly not a easy as it could be. All in all, I think the lock it self is decent but the accessories are lacking.

I'll say this. I lived the the greater Boston area for a whole summer and my bike never got stolen using this lock. However, taking the lock on and off proved to be a pain because you had to jiggle the key a good bit to get it in there and unlock the bike. However, I was on a tight budget and this lock did the job!

Incredibly heavy in your hands, but my bike is already pretty heavy so I don't notice it too much on a ride. Does its job; I imagine it would be hard to dismantle this set and take the bike. The cable is long enough to loop through the wheel and frame and the U lock. Pretty handy--I would pick this one again.

Awesome. People are complaining about the clip that holds to the bicycle. I didnt need the clip. The cable is very thickand not to heavy. The keys are very nice I love the way you twist it and the lock is covered to prevent dirt from entering lock.I used this to lock my allen bike rack to my hitch and its is the perfect size without using the cable.

A little heavy, but if you attach it to the bike (without the p.o.s. clip that came with it), it isn't nearly as heavy. I use it around my college campus all the time. The cable is a little short, but i had a spare from my last bike lock that was a lot longer that i use. I wrapped mine in paracord because i didn't want it rubbing against my bike when I was riding. So far so good.

Excellent lock and sturdy. I much prefer key locks to combination locks. I'm also happy to have the optional cable, since there are times when a bike rack is unavailable.

BG: I bought a second hand intermediate level bike, retail $729 CAD, on craigslist. So there's two schools of thought of :1. the bike's retail value itself could attract thieves, 2. I spent $300 on it and I do not want purchase a $100 lock given it's value to me.Goal: a lock that's relatively solid and fall under $40.Review:The lock itself is quite solid and relatively heavy , but it's not uncommon and I have seen heavier U lock for sure . It has a rubber matte finish, so it won't scratch up your bike frame easily.The thickness of the U Lock itself, it's around 12mm, feels like it could be thicker.The mount is mostly were the 1 star deduction has gone to, it does not look like it'd hold up in a long term. The cable has flimsy around it so not sure how much it'd hold up (see image), but for this kind of cable, the purpose is to delay the thieves as there's always pipe cuter that's strong enough to cut through. still a good preventive measure and I will be using it to secure my snowboard on the mountain as well.Bottom-line: Given how much I want to spend on a lock ($40 below) and what this lock has included : U-Lock, Cable, Mount, Key (x2) with the quality in mind, it's a solid product, especially for it's price. I think it's good for people in my situation who wants to choose a reasonable lock but can't justify for an expensive one given the bike values.

This is a great lock. Seems very strong and thankfully not as heavy as I expected. When I weighed it, it was just over 800g. The cable was thicker than I expected and can easily reach my front tires to lock up if I need to. The u lock is a good size as I can fit it around the frame, rear wheel and a pole to lock it up. The only concern I have with it is the flimsy plastic mount. Seems like it might last longer if I put the mount horizontally on the top tube rather than anywhere vertically, but either way I don't expect it to last very long.

Au départ très content de ce cadenas qui est robuste, je suis finalement déçu car la serrure a cessé de fonctionner après moins d'un an. Par chance, cela s'est produit lorsque le vélo n'était pas attaché, sinon il m'aurait fallu rentrer sans !!!En gros je met la clef dans la serrure et il m'est impossible de la tourner... Je ne sais pas si le fait d'avoir transporté le cadenas sur le guidon a pu jouer un rôle dans cette panne, (ce serait le comble surtout qu'il y a une attache fournie avec pour fixer le cadenas sur le cadre lors des déplacement, et pis s'il faut transporter un cadenas dans du papier bulles, c'est pas bon signe(au moment où j'écris cette évaluation que ça fait longtemps que je me suis débarrassé du produit, je n'ai gardé que le cable secondaire qui est robuste et ne présente à priori pas de défaut)Plus récemment j'ai acheté un modèle similaire chez kryptonite et pour l'instant pas de souci (je croise les doigts)

Arrivé en temps, bonne qualité. Je ne sais pas si c'est moi qui suis imbécile, mais j'ai dû m'y prendre à plusieurs fois avec le cadenas en U. Maintenant j'ai le truc et c'est très facile!Cahier d'instructions très utile et propose des endroits pour poser le cadenas en U dont j'ignorais la possibilité.Très bien.

I like the quality of both the cable and the bar lock. I oiled up the lock on the bar lock before using it and I have had no problems with it at all. The cable is long enough to secure your bike to lamp posts etc. Very happy with this purchase.
