Genji Sports Instant Outdoor and Beach Tent, Blue/Yellow Trims, One Size

I SO wish I could have given this 5 stars. The pop up tent popped open just fine. Then came the final reckoning. We watched the recommended video with Mrs. Genji folding up the tent.....SEVERAL times. We read the directions attached to the cover multiple times. We found a couple of other such videos of happy people closing their tents and watched them. I seriously considered that perhaps a glass or more of wine would help but decided instead to believe the "easy" way other reviewers purport that this is to close. Both my husband and I have more than 2 post graduate degrees among us, but closing this was impossible (without fear of breaking the supports)...unless you want to entertain your cat watching from a corner wondering if this is some new thing to catch and carry the cat in, and avoiding it yet still laughing at you simultaneously. Our triumph came when after continually watching/pausing the closing method video, was that we were actually able to successfully fold it in half! And nothing broke! We both have a hiking/camping/mountaineering background which includes the happy use of popup tents. However, so far, no true victory with this. We figure that it will fit in the Jeep folded in half with clamps (which have soft edges) to hold the springy sides together. This is also our plan for how to carry it down to the beach tomorrow. At the moment, however, It looms fully popped open in the living room of the cottage we're in by the sea, mocking us. So, go figure. Either no one wants to admit that it's impossible to fold back, or someone found the secret method and told a few fortunate other tent owners. Our main goal was to open it, figure out how to fold it and practice as recommended, enjoy it on the beach and relaxedly fold it back up. At this point we've achieved 1 1/2 of our goal: unfolding it (popping it open) and folding it in half which is somewhat manageable but nothing like the videos illustrate, and with no hope of it fitting it back into the case. But if it works as a sun shelter on the beach, and we can transport it back home folded and securely clamped in half, we will have had at least a modicum of success. It seems sturdy enough for our purpose and after all, it survived our multiple feeble attempts at closing. And now, actually, even the cat likes it. Vacation.....always has some complications. Now for that glass of wine.....

Wing it out there like a big frisbee and watch it pop up! Do it again! It's almost as satisfying as popping bubble wrap.Love this tent. We researched beach tents extensively before landing on this one. We wanted a lightweight tent that took up little space when folded but provided maximum and versatile protection from sun and wind and was easy to carry, set up and dismantle. We read all the online reviews of various beach tents out there (the Amazon reviews helped a lot). Based on users' opinions and what was available in our area, we chose the Genji tent.Delivery was super fast and in plenty of time for an upcoming beach vacation. One huge piece of advice — and I can't emphasize this enough — practice, practice, practice taking down the tent before you use it the first time. Watch the YouTube videos (there are several) and repeat a few times to get the hang of it. We tried it out once in our back yard, had instant success, pronounced ourselves skilled and happily loaded it in the car for our trip. Well, it was a completely different story on a windy ocean beach with only our faded memories and the attached printed instructions for guidance. That first time, after numerous attempts, we gave up trying to get the tent to pack down into a nice flat circle (in gale force winds) and ended up lugging it back to our cottage, folded awkwardly in half (in gale force winds). (Okay, maybe "gale force" is a slight exaggeration but it was great surfing weather that day). I'm sure I heard other beach goers laughing at us...Unlike other reviewers we haven't had any problems with the zippers or with durability — thus far. Yes, it can get hot with all the openings closed but what tent wouldn't on a hot day on an exposed beach? We found it to be pretty easy for one person to take down and fold up on a calm or mildly breezy day but a little more of an adventure on a very windy day. As other reviewers note, the size can easily accommodate two adults. The zippered flaps and screened windows are great for customizing your protection from sun and wind and blowing sand from whatever direction — all closed, all open or partially open, etc. We didn't put sand in the side pockets to weigh the tent down as it seemed easier, faster and more stable to just use the pegs. The tent is very lightweight and easy to carry, in its case, slung over a shoulder. We often toted it about two miles (walking) to the beach, round trip, along with towels, etc.I would buy this tent again, no question. It is exactly what we wanted in a beach shelter.
