Answer is it can't make both ratios. 2.56oz in gallon of gas makes a 50:1 ratio. You would need to mix the 2.56 oz in 0.8 gallons of gas (just over 3 quarts) to get a 40:1 ratio. Before using a 50:1 ratio in any 2-cycle engine requiring a 40:1 ratio, I'd certainly contact the engine manufacturer & ask if the ratio change is ok.
