Be Careful- Mis-advertised!
The yoga mat is not 36 inches wide. This is a different product (a standard sized mat) repackaged and sold as something else. Attached is a picture of the unopened yoga mat on a standard 24 inch yoga mat (with a picture of the inaccurate label). Be careful as the product is not what is advertised.

Perfect size for a 6-footer... but SLIPPERY no matter what!
I'm glad I waited until after I'd used it for exercise, rather than reviewing after opening.Other reviewers found it slippery, especially once they began to sweat. I thought it would be due to the texture and material, as it is very different from my old, thinner yoga mat, but there was actually a slick, slightly greasy film on it. The film is probably there so the mat won't stick to itself when rolled up during shipping, as it might especially in hotter temperatures. To remedy, I wet a washcloth, put a couple drops of hand soap on it, squeezed it out until it was only damp... then wiped the mat down briskly on both sides. I didn't rinse it, as I didn't use much soap. After this, the mat was perfect to use.It does have a slight chemical smell, but it's really not as bad as some have mentioned. Barely noticeable after the wipe-down.I thought I wouldn't like the extra thickness of it, or even need it as I always use my mat on carpet, but the actually thickness helped. My shorts waistband or whatever I was wearing would aggravate and chafe the top of my tailbone when I'd "roll like a ball"—I use it for Pilates, too—or do the Seal. With this mat, I experience no discomfort whatsoever. Must be that extra padding.I'm a 6ft-tall woman with an athletic build, and this is the perfect size. Like another very tall male reviewer said, I can turn sideways and do certain poses on the mat now and stay ON the mat. On the "normal sized" mat, my feet would be on and my hands would be on the floor. Very aggravating. Finally, I love that this came in black. How cool is that?1/14/16 UPDATE:I'm removing a star because this mat is still slippery once you get going. And ONE SIDE OF THE MAT IS SLIPPERIER THAN THE OTHER. (See pics. The side that looks like uniform squares is super slick. The other that looks a little cross-hatched is the "best" side.)I'm sure to always use the grippy side when I'll be doing any standing poses, but it STILL doesn't allow me to root myself as securely as on a regular mat. When on my old one, for instance, I'm able to get so much lower and deeper in the poses. On this one, I don't have the confidence that I won't absolutely slip and pull something!Just ordered a microfiber yoga towel in hopes that that helps. Will update eventually.

4 Stars, Not 5, and Reason Why
I ordered the XL mat, due to my height of 6'6". Great mat for a tall person and thick enough to be considered more than comfortable.Durability appears to be fine. The mat which was discarded lasted 10 years for 3 yoga practices / week and would expect the YogaAccessories mat one to last as long. The mat which was discarded was a closed cell mat, which means that the discarded mat did not absorb sweat nor did it absorb water when laundered. I wash everything I've worn in hot water with Tide Sport after each hot yoga class, including the Yogatoes mat towel and the mat itself. The YogaAccessories mat is not closed cell, so it absorbs sweat. More critically, it takes 2-3 days to fully air dry out, after washing, in a de-humidified, low humidity room in my home. Fortunately, I have 3 yoga mats, so 2-3 days of dry time doesn't present a problem for me. However, if there are others like me who wash everything in the washing machine and only have one mat, be advised that a second or third mat is in order. Or, look for a mat which has 'closed cell' in the descriptive.

😍 LOVE IT
I am in LOVE ❤️ with this mat. I practice Bikram Hot Yoga. I am 5'6 but a am generally annoyed with my feet having to touch the studio floor whil imbin certain postures. Initially when I rolled out this may in my home I felt a bit apprehensive about taking it to the studio...thinking about what others may think...then I said to heck with it...I'm going for my own little comfy Yoga mat island. It is large and roomy. I can stretch out on this with no worry for touching the ground. Additionally I bought an extra long towel. I wish the company actually made a towel for the mat...I would be I. Double heaven.

Tall people, this is your mat!
This mat is huge! And I love it. The teal color is fantastic - vibrant, saturated hue, better than photo. It’s slightly thicker than a standard issue yoga mat, but not so thick that you sink in and it messes with your balance. I’m 5’10” and easily annoyed how often I practice “off the mat” or have to scooch back to get back on the mat. The only downside is that I feel kinda silly walking into class with this big ole maama jamma, but if your fellow yogis judge you, they’re doing it wrong...ha!Pics are taken just after unboxing, faint smell, not surprising, disapates quickly. Within a couple hours, the “roll up wrinkle” is mostly gone. It’s shown 3 ways, 1 as is, 1 with the GAIAM xl towel, and 1 with the XL YogaRat towel. Each will work nicely.

Foaming yoga mats are all the rage
As a yoga mat, it feels like it should be nice and comfortable. It is very long and had a good width too! Problem is, when it arrived I rolled it out and began to use it. But what is that I feel? Moisture? I have no idea what it is, but pressing down on the spongy mat it is definitely moist and begins to foam up??? I'm guessing that it took a nice dip in some factory oils or something... I've had it soaking in the tub for a bit now trying to clean it out. Definitely not happy with it's arrival condition.

Great as a yoga mat, great as a kitchen rug.
This is a great mat. I don't do yoga, I put it on the kitchen floor because my old dog's legs are going out from under him. This nice big mat is wonderful to stand on while doing dishes or chopping vegetables. It's significantly thicker than the less wide mats I have in the halls and living room. I would take this to a yoga class in a heartbeat. I'd be the most comfortable student there.
