How do you get this stapler open to refill with staples? It has resisted all of my efforts so far.

You just lift the clear top part.. mine opens very easily.. maybe yours is stuck or broken?

Yes, I have used the same size staples as I use in my regular stapler. No problems. Purchased refill rose gold staples from Amazon.

Standard staples do not fit. Where can I purchase staples that fit? Otherwise it is a waste of money!
