I decided to try out my new mini lathe with these knives. I had several wood species to choose from but decided to give it a real test. I took a piece of Red Eucalyptus from the firewood and milled it down to the size for pen blanks. Eucalyptus hits somewhere in the 1400's on the Janka scale. That's harder than most domestic wood in the US. Then I took the bad end of one piece and cut it down using these knives to build a push tool for assembling the pens. I tried out every knife in the kit, played with them a little and worked the eucalyptus down. As you can see, the project turned out well.Since I am using a mini-lathe, the small size of the knives worked as an advantage for me. They handled well and were very sharp. I will soon be turning pens. I hope to update this post in the near future with a Eucalyptus pen having been completed.The product arrived much earlier than projected. I was glad of that. The box was damaged in shipping. But, I didn't buy these for the box. Thanks for reading, Joe T.

I got these for myself starting out wood turning. They are a little small, but still very usable. Even now that I have some larger, higher quality turning chisels, I'll still use some of these from time to time if I need an odd shape or tight radius.

I'm doing some wood working and needed some chisels. I looked around and found these. Nice sharp blades with wooden handles. They come in a wood box to keep them protected.

The box and wooden case arrived damaged, 1 of the gouges has a HUGE crack. If you want this set for the box, then look elsewhere, however guages seem to be well made.****!!!!***UPDATE***!!!***I reached out to the seller in regards to damaged box and 1 cracked guage. Angie was extremely helful and provided a fantastic resolution. Thank you guys I am now a satisfied customer.P.s please package better it will save time and money for both ends, and also make the wooden case with better material.

I’m new to wood turning and it can get expensive so I bought entry level chisels.First what everyone says about the box is true, it’s cheep. But that isn’t why anyone bought these chisels, it was just a ‘bonus’.Second the handles, like many said are shot and it would be nice if they were a few inches longer. Like 4-6 inches long.Third one of the tools, the one I’ve used most, the handle has already come lose and made it in usable.Finally, these are not that sharp and do not hold an edge for long.All of the above is what makes this set of chisels just ok.If you are looking for just ok tools look no further. If you want to see if you like the woodworking hobby , specifically lathe work but don’t want to spend a lot in case you bail on the hobby look no further.If you want a great set of chisels look elsewhere.

Purchased these as wife is started to get more into artful woodcrafting. Typically, with lower priced tools, I expect to have to replace or at least repair the handles, but the handles on these were attached very well. They have already been used in a few projects, and have held up perfectly.Great purchase for the price~Ken F

So I’m super novice, but this set is well made and has lots of pieces (that I’m still learning how to use). Love that it comes in a nice wood box too
