I have purchased another brand in the past but needed additional since people keep going home with them attached to their hats lolI decided to get these since they were priced much lower. At first I was disappointed that they were plastic clips and didn't have the grip of the others but to my surprise they have held up to many boat trips and even kids tubing behind the boat with hats on. The hats fly off the kids heads but are saved by these straps. A+

I think they probably grip well enough, but I won't know until the wind actually tests it. The clips aren't very tight/strong, so I have my doubts.

I bought these to Hans out to our guests so they return to the dock with their hat. They have saved my hat many times. Great item and our guests love them!

I purchased these to use while sailing to keep from losing my hat overboard (again). As you can imagine it can be very windy and having already lost many hats overboard when the wind blows them off my head I thought these would be a great way to avert more lost hats. I was hopeful these would solve my issue...I was wrong. Luckily, I tested these clips on land before using on the water. My test consisted of attaching the clip to my hat and shirt collar and then pushing my hat backwards off my head. Well, these clips failed to keep my hat from hitting the ground. The problem is that the actual spring loaded clip just doesn't have enough grip strength to hold onto the hat (just a regular baseball cap). It just slips out with just the force of gravity pulling it down. Basically, it worthless for what I need it for and I can't imagine it working for any application since it fails with minimal force applied. I will be returning these and looking at other options.

Stop chasing your hat! Clips to shirt and you'd never know it's there. If the wind blows you're hat off it's clipped to your shirt and not flying away!

Purchased these. Then saw the chums version. Chums was far superior. The clips are plastic, and do not have very good grip strength. I feel if my heart tried to blow off on the boat these would come unclipped.

some products are made so you lose them. lip balm. eyeglass holders, hat holders. i used to play tennis. now i go to u s open. i still sail. it is annoying when i can't find eyeglass holders, hat holders. big brimmed hat with strap under chin does not work, blocks vision. so i bought this product and one for eyeglasses. both come with many, so can lose, misplace a few. i leave on hat, but eventually take off when not sailing. well, with life vest on, clip came off. it does not hold as tight as it should or be as long as it should be. but get many for very low price. things at west marine are very good but very expensive.
