Manufacturer's Description NISIS USB Graphics Tablets provide an intuitive pen for inputting drawings and writing to your computer. When using Drawing, editing photographic images or other graphics applications, most of us prefer to use a pen rather than a computer mouse, because we are more used to this type of tool when writing or drawing on paper. The pen that comes with the NISIS Graphics Tablets, offer one important feature that is not available with computer mice, Pressure sensitivity. When pressure is applied when using the pen, the Graphics Tablet detects up to 512 levels of pressure and passes this information to the Graphics application. Many of these Graphics applications, such as PhotoShop and PaintShop Pro, are able to use the pressure information to change the with of the line that is being drawn, of change the colour of the line or vary the density of the spray when using an airbrush tool. The pen and mouse use Radio frequency signals to communicate with the Graphics Tablet so they a cordless. In addition, the mouse that comes with the Tablet does not have a mouse ball. This means you don't have the frustration of the mouse slipping and sliding when it picks up dirt from the desktop.

Great for trying out tablets
I really wanted to buy a tablet for drawing, but didn't have the money to get a really good one. I eventually bought this because of value for money. It seemed to have a greater active area and a higher resolution than most other tablets out there for the same price. After having got over the shock of how cheap it looked, and getting used to working with the pen, it turned out to be very easy to work with. The pressure sensitivity met my expectations - even though it didn't prove easily compatible with some graphics programs it worked well with my favourites. There is no way I would go back to using the mouse for colouring now :)The only serious weird behaviour I've come across is when you open a pdf file, the cursor become restricted to the top left hand corner of the screen (easily solved by logging off).I wouldn't say I would be happy working with this tablet forever, but I am not disappointed with my choice and would recommend it to anyone buying their first tablet.

Cheap but a bit cheerful!
I wasn't planning on spending that much on a grapics tablet - due to their very expensive prices. This one though was very cheap - yet suprisingly good. Some of the good points about this tablet is, of course, its price. But it also comes with alot of software (Although very outdated). It is not as bad as some people have said - it is very good at handwriting recognition in Micrsoft Word but sadly I found it very poor at drawing. The pen did not seem to know when to draw and when to not draw, and sometimes it just would not respond. Personally I would NOT recommend this to any budding designer - but if you are just after a taste in what graphics tablets are like then this could be a good starting point.

good -- once it started working
i had a nightmare trying to install this tablet. apparently all the drivers and installation guides supplied with the tablet are out of date. i had to download a massive amount of updates from the nisis website and it still didn't work. my installation cd gave me a black screen when i tried to run it. i emailed nisis who sent a replacement cd which did the trick (excellent fast customer support).since installing the pen i've found it does what i expected for the price - not too smooth when tracing and the positioning isn't very accurate, but nice pressure sensitivity and very easy to use. the mouse is a nice extra but i find it a bit annoying to use on such a small surface. i've yet to try out the handwriting recognition but that would be a nice feature if it works.4 stars for product/value for money, 2 for it not working, 5 for customer service.

Not quite as anticipated
Having already owned a graphics tablet, i had purchased the Nisis G3 for a present. Admittedly the price of the Nisis is much more affordable than alot of competitors Tablets and therefore the quality and accuracy is expected to be less than the more expensive models , however my findings were that although the Nisis tablet might be slightly more accurate than a mouse, it tended to 'jump around' too much, even when the configuration had been changed. I found it great for 'general' tracing of objects within my photo programmes, but felt it couldn't hold an accurate line when being more specific. On some occasions, the pen remained 'active' when lifted from the tablet, resulting in errors on my photos.I conclude by saying that in my experience of the product, the Nisis G3 has a good software package and if just looking for a reasonably priced tablet as a step up from a mouse, it should be ok. However if you have already used a graphics tablet, or are looking at using it for accurate/ delicate tracing, you may end up dissapointed, as i was.

Good for navigation alternative, BAD FOR PRO'S!!!!
I bought this in the hope of adapting my skills from paper to PC using Corel Painter. I thought that I either was not good enough or that designing on PC was not as easy as I thought. I then tried another Tablet (Graphire3 Classic XL from Wacom) and realized it was nothing to do with either of the abouve.I found this pen unresponsive and very inaccurate. The mouse was unusable as a mouse and the pressure monitoring was a joke (despite being adjustable). It was hard to draw a straight line let alone a decent digital sketch.I now have a friend who has Arthritis and is now using this instead. As far as she is concerned it has helped her immensely as she finds a mouse painful to use.So for her it's great for me it's rubbish.Pay the extra for a Wacom device. You will not be disappointed.
