Kalex Telescopic Fishing Kit & Combo

I purchased this setup (without the tackle kit) for a trip to the beach. The pole and reel are great! It’s compact and has great action! The reel comes loaded with 4lb test line which needs to be replaced if you plan on catching any fish. I lost two lures due to the weak line. As soon as I had a fish on, it snapped and lost the lure each time. If this reel was loaded with a heavier line, it would be a 5 star purchase without question! I would but this again!

I have not used the combo yet but with that being said, the rod and reel arrived packaged the was it should be, I was impressed as to the care and time it took to package each item. The rod has a good quality feel to it and extends fast and firm. The reel is one of quality and looks like it should cost more., The cost for the combo is worth it and I would recommend it. Will continue the review after I take it out on the water and put it to use.

This rod seemed pretty cool when it first arrived. Went out the next weekend to go fishing at a small creek. Got my son set up casting his own lure, then went back and set up this Kalex. I put on a small spinner (was trying for trout) and made my first cast. Then my second. Then, on the third cast, the rod broke at the second junction down. Just snapped the plastic. I was disappointed but thought I would contact the company. I went to the appropriately referenced website, but Kalex was not an option for the products mentioned. I still submitted a query and waited, as they requested, for the extra time they would need to process the concern due to Covid. Well, by the time that "extra time" ran out, I could no longer return it to Amazon. And did they get in touch with me? No, they did not. I still haven't received any kind of communication from this seller/company. So, in short, it's not a good rod, certainly not worth what they're asking. And if you have a problem with it; well then, you just have a problem because they sure won't try to be part of any solution. I would call it a pos, but that's too kind -- even the right pos can catch fish. This rod won't though.

This telescopic rod is very durable appears to be a great value for the price. I ended up buying three different sizes, for different fishing. Great value

Okay, so at first use I was not a fan of this set! Not even at second use. But once I found my groove with it this has been an amazing rod for the price! I’ve fished with it now four days in a row and by the third I’ve caught multiple catfish and rockfish. Even caught an eel! This is a very sturdy rod for 12-15lb cap and the reel action is very good as well.It comes pre-spooled with 6lb line but I re-spooled it and use the 6lbs it came with for my kids. I use 20lb line with a 3lb weight and the pictures attached are everything I’ve caught with it.This rod is portable and easy to extend and break down

Found a crack in the reel. Luckily it doesn’t affect the performance, otherwise it would’ve been returned. Also, one of the screws on the reel came loose first time out. Easily fixed but makes me question the craftsmanship... Hard to keep the eyelets lined up and the pole will collapse without too much force which can be annoying. I’m only keeping it because it was cheap and came with the basic lures. It’s good for easy transportation when I have to walk a long way for a fishing spot.

We bought 2 of these to take on a backpacking trip in the Rockies with our 8 and 10 year old. It was a last minute purchase and I’m so glad we did it. Everything we needed was in the box, except bait, so the price point was quite reasonable. My husband had them ready for use within a matter of minutes at the first lake we were at. Granted, they have fished quite a bit, but these were user friendly for our kids and easily set up for a lefty too. These were great quality- not like a cheap little kid pole or anything! They packed down so small I thought we forgot them initially. They went right into a side pocket adding minimal weight and size to the pack. Every time we came upon a lake, we’d take a nice break from hiking and these came out! While they only caught some pretty small trout, they loved fishing. It was nice to have them along and be able to quickly have them out and useable. I don’t think we will ever go without these!

When I unboxed and set this pole up I was super impressed by how it felt and the action was great. After getting it on the water my thoughts on this combo shifted. I bought the 6’6 model with a 2000 reel and the first stripper guide (the biggest one) is too close to the reel so when you are reeling back your line the it only touches half of the guide. If the first guide was lower or bigger this rod would make a huge improvement.
