Carlisle399214 Solid Long Handle Portion Control Spoon, 8 oz, Blue

Perfect size

Took almost two months after ordering for this little spoon to arrive in mid-2017, but it's finally here!These are different than the usual store bought spoons in that they come in different sizes for specific measurements - the yellow colored spoon (sometimes purple) is the smallest sized spoon at one ounce. There isn't much difference between this 395604 version and it's short-handled yellow cousin, this 395604 version just has the longer handle while the 492104 version has the shorter handle. With both short and long versions in my kitchen it is easy to pick the best one for the task at hand. There are also long (and short) versions of this spoon that are perforated for straining. If one needs larger portion/sized spoons, they are available in many different sizes and colors. However they tend to keep the colors restricted to certain sizes, which makes it easy to grab the correct size without having to eyeball the spoon.. If I want the 1oz sized spoons, I grab one of the yellow ones!So far as temperature goes, I thought these were "rated" for higher temps, but turns out they max out around the normal boiling point of 212F/100C, so it wouldn't be wise to use these for cooking when higher temps are involved. If you cook with an induction burner and are keeping the temp below 200 degrees (F) then I guess these would be ok, but it's probably better to use spoons rated for higher temperatures for basic stirring and keep the Carlisles for specific tasks.These items were "back ordered" for a while in mid-2017, but at present (Jan 2018) look to be in stock.I previously purchased(Q2) of the 395604 (Yellow 1oz Long Handle)(Q2) of the 395704 (Yellow 1oz Long Handle - Perforated) (Jan 2018 as the price has dropped!)(Q2) of the 492104 (Yellow 1oz Short Handle)(Q2) of the 492304 (Yellow 1oz Short Handle - Perforated)Update? Looks like they might be increasing the variety of colors. When I purchased these the 1 ounce spoons only came in yellow (and maybe purple). It's possible that they might now come in more than 2 colors.

I often make half batches of chocolate chip cookies. But when the recipe calls for 3/4 cup brown sugar- I couldn’t figure out how to half it. Then one day it donned on me, 3/4 cup is the same as 6 oz, so if I got a 3 oz measuring cup-I could measure my brown sugar! I know, took me way too long to figure it out, but this spoon helps me make half batches of chocolate chip cookies perfectly every time!

Was looking for a "deep" spoon that wasn't wide. The ones you usually find in the kitchen sections of your local stores can hold more than a tablespoon but usually run 2.5 - 3 inches wide and can't fit into a jar. Discovered that Carlisle has a color-coded product line that ranges from small to large, and was pleased to find several available choices.Also ordered the longer version of this "solid" spoon - 395604.After buying, I learned there was a "perforated" version - 492304 - so bought two of those as well.

I got this to use for fixing my morning coffee. It is well made and as described. However, it is to long for storing in my coffee bin with the coffee. I will look for another product.

I have been looking for spoons like this for a while. You can find them in a set, but I didn't want a set I just wanted the spoon. I am a director of a childcare center and we eat family style at lunch. These are great for teaching the children to portion food. I have not had any issue with the quality of the spoons, and they get used every day.

These spoons are sturdy and work well for portion control or quickly scooping out measured ingredients. I make a lot of Keto type recipes, scooping up an ounce of this, or two ounces of that goes quick when dishing up meals using these spoons. A bit pricey, but they feel like they will last.

Good portion control measuring spoon for my cat's kibble. The flat bottom seems to scoop and hold the kibble well. I used a black permanent marker to write the 'cup' amount on the underside of the handle, since the feeding guide on most dry cat food bags show measurements in cups vs. ounces. Says it's dishwasher safe, but I haven't tried that yet, just wash by hand.

I work in a hospital and I use the spoon to dish out patient soup. It works for the measurement but the only problem is the handle is too short. It's like a extra large measuring scoop. I like it but I think the handle can be longer for a better grip based on what I'm using it for.

I got a couple of these to measure dog food. I give my dog 1/2 cup of food twice and day, and recently started giving him wet food with his kibble. These spoons are great for measuring 1/2 and 1/2 to maintain portion control.

These are perfect for scooping just the right amount of food for my 12 lb dog since just a few extra kibble make her gain weight. These are by far the thickest plastic measuring cups I have ever seen.

I'm calorie counting and tracking what I eat, so using this really helps with portion control and measuring. I've used these to make larger meatballs as well. Nice high quality, well made. Very sturdy. Will happily purchase more!

I’m trying to be more aware of portion control. Trying to lose weight so this portion control spoon has been extremely helpful to me.

After my WLS I carry this to make sure my portions are correct- handle is good sized. Will fit in purse (not a tiny purse). Would buy again.
