OtterBox - Really good protection
My Grandson of 13, brought me his iPod 4 with a broken screen and asked if I could repair it.I ordered the parts. A spodger and double sided tape etc. and a new screen and digitizer - but I also ordered this OtterBox as well.He came by today for thanksgiving dinner with grandma and me and I asked him for the broken phone, which he was still using. It took about ½ an hour to fix and get all back together OK and then I put it in this OtterBox, so I would not have to do this again - hopefully. His face lit up and he was ecstatic. His phone was all better and he had an OtterBox to boot. He was chuffed to NAFFI brakes and said it had made his day.Great product and it fits really well. It should save a lot of aggravation going forward. Really feels like it is the tool for the job. I would highly recommend this protection device to anyone who has an iPod 4 and wants to protect it.Rod.

A proven level of protection with only some minor faults. Great warranty service.
Easy to install and take off to clean. Has kept my iPod in nearly perfect condition even after a couple drops. The home and volume buttons also work perfectly with the case on. Kind of hoped it would have also covered the cameras and light sensor as well but they stay fairly clean beyond a little lint.Only fault I have with it is the silicon sleeve. It's loosened around the top it doesn't lock into the channels of the hard plastic shell. Also the tab that normally covers the stereo jack has come completely off. The portion that protects the main 30 pin connection is still firmly attached though.Going to see if I can get some warranty support since it's been around 11 months since I bought it in July 2012. I looked around the web and even at the papers that came with it, but I couldn't find a solid warranty date. I am guessing it's a year. Even if I can't get a replacement as it stands I'm happy with it.*Well I got warranty service sorted. OtterBox approved it after I sent a couple pictures of the issue with my case. They are sending me a new one free of charge don't have to even send the current one back* Great company if I need a case for a phone or other device I am definitely going with OtterBox.

Best Case Available
I've got five children ages 7 to 17, and they each rock an iPod to keep them in the family calendar, email, etc.I put an OtterBox Defender on every single one on day one and, many years in, we have had zero breakage despite many incidents and drops -- including an unfortunate incident of full immersion in water that took out a Nintendo DS at the same time (these are not rated for immersion, and the iPod was not happy afterward, but it must not have let much water in, because the thing was still functional and settled right down after 24 hours sitting on a heater vent).- Kids will mess around with the silicone rubber case and it will stretch out -- a lot over time- The port covers will separate and fall off after a year or so of rough use- Get docking stations with cables so nobody feels compelled to remove the OtterBox to plug in (you know that's when they'll drop it).Bottom Line: Best case, period.(I also run a Defender on my iPhone 5 and love it despite the added thickness)

Protects as Advertised
The OtterBox protects the iPod as advertised. It is extremely durable and has survived several accidental drops. It does not matter what surface (I’ve seen it dropped on tile, linoleum, and gravel) it is dropped on, there is no damage to the iPod. That really is its purpose and it fulfills it. The rubber casing is an excellent idea and not only makes it more durable but also easier to hold onto. The plastic screen covering does an excellent job preventing scratches. However, it can be very clingy to any dog hairs or eyelashes. If you don’t pay attention and clean the inside of the screen, debris can easily be trapped between the iPod screen and the protective screen. If you miss it, it is frustrating to disassemble and reassemble the case. There are still some areas for improvements. While the OtterBox’s thickness helps protect the iPod, it makes pressing the home button difficult. Sometimes if I push the home button the iPod will activate on the first try. Other times I have to hold down the home button to get to work. Still other times I have to press the home button several times. If I take the case off and press the home button, it works perfectly every time, so I know the problem is not with the iPod itself. The problem seems to be getting worse the more I use the OtterBox case on my iPod. The rubber on the OtterBox case over the home button wears out too quickly. If it was thicker and made of a harder rubber than the rest of the case it likely would push the home button on a more consistent basis. The case can also be difficult to disassemble for cleaning. The rubber casing comes off with no problem, but the clips on the plastic casing are much harder to take apart. On a positive note, it does not fall apart when dropped.

Best case for iPod Touch
This case is the best possible solution for the slippery 4G Touch. It's rugged, fits perfectly and doesn't impede any functions. The window for the Apple logo on the back, while a nice touch, keeps the rubber skin from doing its job when the iPod is laying flat. if the protruding plastic were a bit more recessed, or the rubber skin a tad thicker, this would no longer be a problem. The only negative seems to be the inability to use the iPod in a dock or use larger 30-pin connectors without resorting to removing the iPod from the case or using an adapter made for that purpose.

ipod bounces down the freeway and lives to tell
While driving in Hawaii on the freeway at 65 mph in the convertible our son held his ipod in an Otter Box case above his head to take a picture and of course...the wind snatched it right out of his hands. We watched it bounce down the road behind us, sure it was shattered and worthless. He cried and cried. After several days on the road in the rain an incredibly nice man found it, dried it out, got our email address off it, and mailed it back to us!! Its perfect, works flawlessly, NOT A SCRATCH!! I still can't believe it. ALL of our devices will now be outfitted with Otter Box cases.
