coil vs newer models with blades...anyone have opinions on which is better?

Blades are blades, whether it be a razor or and epilady. they scrape the skin and remove all healthy skin cells, leaving legs dry and cutting the hair is only a temporary fix. The coil up roots the hair, preventing quick regrowth of coarse stubs. I have used the coil sense 1987, and now only have to use it once every two months. I love my Epilady Classic Coil. :0)

Does this pinch your skin like the reel ones do?

It does pinch the skin if your skin is flabby (underarms/under knees) because I am overweight. But the machine stops because it is caught in the skin and I just have to pull it away from my skin. It works really well on the legs, face and underarms anyway though. If you just let the hairs get long enough and use it right away it works better. The longer the hairs the more it hurts. But you have to have the hair long enough for the product to grip them. I use mine every 2 weeks. I have seen the others (reel ones) and wondered about them myself and they look like and from what I have read they would hurt a lot more. So I haven’t tried them. Also when the hair grows back it is thinner. Hope all of this helps and is not too much info. Also if you if have long hair and you are doing any area where your hair could hang down... rubber band it. I accidentally got my hair too close the other day thinking my hair wasn’t going to be a problem and it caught my hair. The coils stopped on their on and it hurt a little when it first did it but I had to cut a little strand of my hair to get it free and then it took a few minutes to get my hair out of the coils, and it was only a little bit. I am glad I purchased this product. Good luck...

Trio coil is my 2nd epilady, which i like. but, i like my 1st coil epilady more since it felt more heavy duty. is the classic coil more heavy duty?

I feel like it is very heavy duty. I have handled the coils to pick hairs out. I have traveled with it 4 times and not used a case and it has held up great. My hair is super coarse and with regular shaving I get a 5 o clock shadow, plus at least one bleeding cut. With this, yes it hurts for the first few seconds, then fine and no cuts or 5 o clock shadow! My legs are not super smooth ever, but my husband has no complaints and he has been rubbing them more!!!!

Does this thing give an OUCH !! while removing hair on thigh and loose skin areas??

when I first bought this in the late 80's and read that it would hurt less after several uses I decided to get my legs waxed a couple times first. That way I let someone else quickly remove the hairs painfully. After that using this was a breeze. It eventually broke and I bought the newer versions, none of which are as good IMHO. So delighted that I decided to search epilady coil to see that it is back.
