Blitz 20633 Shine Liquid Polish for Sterling Silver-Plated, 8 oz, Pack of 2

This is a good silver polishing product for sure but having used Wrights Polish for many years, its still a toss up for me. The problem with this Blitz liquid is that about half way through the bottle it begins to seal up the dispenser hole and must be cleaned out with a pointed object to clear the clog. Wrights makes a liquid as well and it may have the same problem. The Wrights silver cream in a jar does not have this issue.

I found this product doing an online search for how to clean silver jewelry - I was very unhappy with the miserable, smelly dips that can damage both metal and skin. But I'd had so much trouble every time I ever used old-fashioned paste polish. There was an article link on Wiki that caught my eye, because I live in Indy, about cleaning a Georgian tea set for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The curator preferred all natural, which again I'd never had any luck with, but said if you're fighting thick tarnish, the best product was made in Jeffersonville, Indiana, called Blitz.He really knew his stuff! Unlike other pastes it's remarkably quick in effectiveness, doesn't smell or hurt your skin, though he did recommend using disposable gloves, and I do. Just smooth it on, then gently massage for a moment with a clean cloth. When you rinse it off, the results are astonishing. I used it first on two pieces I'd given up for lost. One was a turquoise and silver bracelet my mother bought in the 1930s - they actually call it Depression jewelry. The other was a heavy, expensive silver pin in the shape of a panther head my brother had given me many Christmases ago. I keep all of my jewelry in protective bags, but the pin had gone missing for years, and I didn't realize until I got rid of the jewelry armoire that it had fallen into an odd space behind a drawer. It was just black with tarnish. A gentle rub with this stuff, and it looked better than new. I hope the photo shows how stunning it now is.As for the bracelet, it has lots of curlicues and furrows, like much Native American jewelry, but if you put this on a Q-tip and slide it through the trenches and over the stone settings, it works very well. You may not get it all, but the darker lines look great, so I didn't push it. I hate to say this, because you should always be careful to guard any stones from contact, but it was difficult to keep the polish completely off the large green stone while cleaning its surround, and this polish did no damage to it whatsoever. An absolute miracle. And the dip cleaner, so toxic I'm not even supposed to pour it down my sink, is out of my life forever.About the only down side I can think of is that, once you open the bottle, it does dry out pretty quickly. I'd say six months. However, the miserable dip goes bad much faster than that, developing some kind of crystals in it. I ordered some of the Blitz cloths, but haven't tried them yet. As for the bottles, I just ordered more, and I may try next time to store the closed bottle in a ziplock bag. But the price is great, especially contrasted with what I paid for the jewelry. All in all, I couldn't be happier.

Very good and not that abrasive like other polish. It may take more to clean the tarnish but it doesn’t put a lot of distracting and noticeable scratch marks on items. The only drawback is it can take more than one cleaning, which is time consuming.

You're probably second-guessing yourself, wondering why you should spend this much for silver cleaner when you could use baking soda or some other home concoction. Here's the answer: I think I've tried every homemade silver polish and a great many commercial ones, and this is the best I've used in 25 years. It's a little more expensive than some, but I polished more than a dozen thrift store silver plate pieces, some of which were tarnished, blackened recent finds, and I still have a quarter of a bottle left. For most people, a single bottle would last years. This product made me ASHAMED of the condition of the silver plate pieces I already owned, and I thought they were in great shape, gleaming away in the cabinet. WRONG. Just for fun, I used the polish on one piece, then couldn't stop until I'd done them all because the ones I polished with Blitz were so much cleaner and brighter than the remainder. As for the new thrift store finds, they literally glow, and if the former owners could see them, they'd be kicking themselves, because this stuff is soo easy and quick to use.--you need very little effort. The only drawback was soiling dozens of cleaning rags with black marks that didn't entirely come out in the wash. Using paper towels might scratch the silver, which does not happen with Blitz and a rag. Blitz also didn't seem to thin the plating at all, unlike many others. You don't need to scrub, just gently swirl the polish with a soft rag so the chance of damage lessens. I used an old, soft toothbrush to work the polish into intricate design elements, and cotton balls easily buffed it out. Since it's a polish, it supposedly leaves a protective coating on the pieces, but I wash and dry any that touch food or drink, and I always wear gloves to protect my hands. It doesn't smell foul, though. I can't wait for the holiday season, so I can show off the silver plate!

I used this on a piece of jewelry I wear literally everyday. I wanted a cleaner that wouldn’t wear away at the silver and after some research I settled on this Unlike silver dips this won’t damage your pieces. I work in food so I clean this necklace on the regular with a soft polishing cloth. I used this cleaner when I needed a deeper clean and the before and after is wow! I linked photos above of before and after and it’s so shiny and clean! I use a soft cotton swab to work the polish into the piece then rinse with warm water. A light final polishing with my cloth and good as new!
