12 oz Zinsser 408 Clear Bulls Eye Shellac Finish and Sealer Spray

This is my first time using this shellac. I had polyurethaned Brazilian Rosewood, but the polyurethane never set. I stripped this finish off and applied the shellac. It was dry within house, with a nice finish. I lightly sanded it and then re-applied polyurethane. Worked like a charm. Great product!

A previous reviewer said "it would be meaningfully better if it was dewaxed". However, this is wax free. It states on the back of the can that "spray shellac is 100% wax-free" and can be used as a sealer under polyurethane and other finishes. Perhaps they were confusing this product with the non-spray version that comes in quart size. I use it to seal wood before epoxy coat and it works great to reduct bubbles and color runs.

Works great! I love that it hardly darkened the color of my dresser. I usually lighten the pieces I work on and have struggled to find a good top coat that doesn’t change the color.

Good paid and effective coverage. A little more odor than the canned version but overall a good product and seals well.

This is easy to use and I spray it on a lot of my furniture projects before I start to paint to prevent bleed through and cover stains and help to lock in any smells that might be coming from a piece. It is has come in very handy and I would recommend using it on any wood project before painting to help with adhesion and so that you get a better paint finish for your final project.
