Going from 1 star to 5 star. Works beautifully if you ignore Abbott Labs Tech Support.
First off, calling Abbott tech support only gets a sales pitch for their branded Cable for more than twice the price.Works fine with the Copilot Freestyle Freedom Lite Co-Pilot software. Download the driver from the suggested website and follow the steps that the reviewer Exiles posted (Instructions Follow).:1. Went to the Freestyle Web site and downloaded the Copilot Program.2. Went to the Web Address that Wishinglee included with the cable, and got the Drivers for WIN7.3. Installed the Drivers, plugged in the Cable only (make sure the plus are fully seated), opened Device Manager, and setup the USB and COM Port updates.4. Installed the Copilot Program, connected the Meter, but got data error- unable to read.5. Went to DataEntry on the top bar, selected Assign Default Device, Set to COM5 and restarted PC.6. Hit the Read Device and all was well.

I shouldn't have bought it
It works with (ancient) CoPilot -- which only displays test values in mmol/L, not in mg/DL so it's pretty useless for people in the USA..AutoAssist (newer than CoPilot but deprecated by LibreView) closes all the windows on my desktop thus disrupting my work, so it's a piece of trash.LibreView, the latest attempt from Abbott, won't talk to this cable because, for some reason, it tries to talk directly to the hardware using custom drivers instead of using the COM: port.At the end of the day, I wish I'd understood more about my options before I made the decision to buy this.

You need to do research
I bought the Freestyle Freedom Lite Glucose Meter.1. Then I went to the Freestyle Web site and downloaded the Copilot Program.2. Then I went to the Web Address that Wishinglee included with the cable, and got the Drivers for WIN7.3. I installed the Drivers, plugged in the Cable only (make sure the plus are fully seated), opened Device Manager, and setup the USB and COM Port updates.4. I installed the Copilot Program, connected the Meter, but got data error- unable to read.5. I went to DataEntry on the top bar, selected Assign Default Device, Set to COM5 (on my PC).6. Hit the Read Device and all was well.

Beware of Software and Viruses for your PC!!!
When I plugged in the cable into my PC, as instructed I downloaded the "driver" to make it work. What i got into my PC was loads of unwanted software that my PC instantly refused to uninstall. Within minutes, my PC began having "Memory Control" problems and it was obvious i had been infected with a unwanted Chinese virus. I should have known better when I received an email from the seller with instruction on the need to install the cable driver that was written in poor broken English. Beware beware. My 6 year old PC is headed to the scrap heap as it will cost as much to get it cleaned up as to buy a new one. No, I am not buying my new one via Amazon. They need to delist this seller!!

Cable works great! CoPilot Software is hard to find but _is still available_
Following the instructions for installation of software and drivers is clearly important, but the instructions are well written - agree with the manufacturer here it is important to know your system - 32 bit or 64 bit OS, USB 2.0 or USB 3.0? A bit of homework perhaps, but even with searching I had the cable fully functional in about 20 minutes.Biggest complain here seems to be not being able to find the CoPilot software - I tried leaving a link to the download in my last review but that is not allowed, so all I can say is that both the US (mg/dl) and International (mmol/L) versions _ARE STILL AVAILABLE_ for download, however can no longer be downloaded from the Freestyle website - again, some google searching required.Any way, thank you Washinglee for saving me about $20 on buying the cable directly from Abbott! Quality product!

Abbot CoPilot Software M.I.A.
The instructions pointed out that the cable is only compatible with Abbot's CoPilot software. However, Abbot's website mentions the software, but lacks a download link.

Must have very good computer skills.
1. the product arrived as indicated.2, installed the co-pilot program on computer.3. installed the drivers on my computeri could not get the driver assigned to the port it needed to be at. So hence forth could notutilize the equipment. Had no ideal that it would be this hard. I utilize windows 7 Home ; and the manualthat you can print out on how to install the equipment looked nothing like mine. So i guess that could be adifferent program of windows 7. So yes I am put out, after three days of about 6 hours i never did get it to work.

DOES NOT WORK!!!!! DON'T BUY
I just got off the phone with Abbott Libre View tech support. This cable is worthless. Abbot's apps cannot find it. Spent halfhour on phone with support to be told this is NOT the right cable.WISH they'd have negative starts. But required to give at least 1.
