Barbie I Can Be Ballet Teacher Playset

This is an excellent toy to play with, educational value idont really apreciate that in a barbie, but is excellent toy for my three years old daughter to play with, the delivery time was excellent too.

We bought this for my daughter when she turned 4 in January 2012. I'm writing this review in July, having already thrown away the broken plastic ballet barre several weeks ago. I think an older or more careful girl who played more gently would have better luck with the barre, but my 4 year-old was constantly taking it apart and having to reassemble it (no small feat), and it ultimately snapped when it got jostled around among her other toys. But even before it got broken, it was tricky remembering how it all fit together with the dolls just so--you have to get it just right, or it won't work. Good thing it comes with assembly instructions. Depending on your daughter's age and temperament, you might have a completely different experience with it.The rest of the accessories have held up quite nicely, even the mirror which is a piece of thin cardboard. And the dolls themselves are the usual Barbie quality, with the added feature of jointed ankles so they can stand en pointe in their ballet slippers, and other nice jointing that allows for a slightly wider range of poses than I'm used to for Barbie. In general, I think this would be great for older girls, maybe 7 and up, as far as the assembly and function of the barre contraption goes. But even for little girls, the dolls are sweet in their coordinating leotards and slippers, and are good fuel for the imagination. My daughter was in preschool dance classes at the time we purchased this, and she thought it was just "fab-le-ous," as she said, to have dolls that could do some of the things she was learning in class.Overall, I'd recommend this toy. Just be aware that the barre is delicate and needs gentle playing, and won't stand up to being thrown in a toy box--it needs a place to sit on a shelf or table where it won't get twisted or snapped.

The crown on the little girl came off quickly after very little use. Its hard to get the hands to attach to the bar. Its OK but like most Barbie stuff anymore, it could be really great with just a little tweaking.

As a little girl, I loved ballet and hoped one day to be a ballerina. Today's little girls must all wish for the same thing as this is the 5th or 6th (or more) Barbie ballerina set with a Kelly/Chelsea doll that I know about. The small doll used to be Kelly and was a darling little toddler. Mattel has now grown her a few years and added gangly arms and legs, a clown-like face and called her Chelsea. A real turn for the worst in doll design. The Barbie is standard issue but the set is entertaining in that it not only has ballet studio accessories but also has a mechanism to allow both dolls to "dance". If you can get it set up and balanced it is quite nice. Little girls will enjoy replicating their own ballet classes and pretending that Barbie is the prima ballerina.

I bought this Barbie and Kelly barbie ballet playlet, as a gift for my granddaughter, she loves playing with Barbie!

My daughter enjoys playing with the dolls more than the props in this play set. Its pretty good but I honestly do not see a difference in spending less money on a a couple ballerina barbies rather than buying the set which is alot more. Overall, it's nice though, the dolls are made well.

My Granddaughter wanted this "I can be" Barbie.. my Amazon Prime membership had this delivered two days after I ordered it. The gift was in perfect condition, and was a favorite of the party.
