Found the solution to the freezing!
Hello to everyone who is having a problem with the freezing. It’s a windows problem, and it happenes with a lot of laptops. The problem is that once a week windows pops updates and for some reason the windows installation freezes the whole system by making the disk go to %100 use. The solution: update windows weekly. It will make your computer including this computer, lighting fast. I know it’s frustrating and dumb. But it is what it is. I have three is this computers for my business and now that I’ve finally solved the problem I can believe how awesome they are.

My Laptop FREEZES- Love/Hate Relationship :(
The ONLY complaint I have on this laptop is that it FREEZES. I've had it unfortunately freeze well over 20x since my purchase in December '16, often times 2-3 times in a day. I've tried multiple solutions- laptop fan, reducing # of internet tabs or programs I'm using/running, virus scanners, manufacturer resets, internet searches- & nothing has stopped the freezing.A family member of mine is a tech guru & has been trying to help, but it's been touch & go. The last time they helped me they removed a feature that comes with the Xbox app included that they read someone say in a forum was causing them similar problems. Since then the amount of freezing has reduced Drastically, but is still an unfortunate issue which worries me about the longevity of my laptop.I only rated it 4 stars because I'm in love with EVERYTHING ELSE about it- light weight, fast speed, beautiful & glossy colors; etc. And last thing, what makes matters worse is that when I've researched this laptop brand I see very little to No info on it (Even via Asus' website). It's like the product never existed. :(

There are some good options with this configuration but overall I'd rank my experience with this product poorly (but not enough for a 1 star). The size and weight of the laptop are okay. It is a unit that will grow heavy if you're walking around with it one-handed, so it stays in one place for me (which pretty much removes a lot of the portability benefits I assumed I would have). The screen size and resolution are quite nice, and even though I have a separate ultrawide monitor hooked up, I certainly don't need it. The sound quality is okay but I generally listen to music through headphones, so that's pretty much a non-issue for me. The touchpad is quite sensitive when I'm typing, making my cursor "jump" in whatever document I'm editing, so I also rarely use the keyboard unless I'm full on remote. And I never use this thing in anything but laptop mode. Tablet mode seems very clunky to me and I haven't found a reason to stand it up as they show in the pictures. That's all of the major "features" of this machine. But the biggest problem by far is the HARD DRIVE. I have had this laptop for under a year and it freezes up after every major update (going to 100% disk usage when there is only 1 or 2 applications running). I have tried a lot of different solutions and have spent an inordinate amount of time troubleshooting the issue -everything from diving into the cache settings of random files to permanently deactivating Skype from the computer. In all my research, I discovered that the main cause of this kind of problem ends up being hardware (HDD versus Solid State). Transitioning from a tower to a laptop, I had no idea this was a potential issue, and indeed it might not be with other model hard drives, but for whatever reason the one packaged with this model seems to be defective.Save yourself a lot of hassle and do NOT buy this configuration... get one with Solid State. As for me, I will be contacting Asus and seeing what kind of exchange/return/repair policies they have on their hardware.

Two start - ups, then DOA
I ordered this laptop for my daughter on the recommendation of a businessman who runs a lot of computers and was very disappointed in it, and lost a little respect for his opinion. Out of the box, started up, did the set-up. Turned it on the next day and the screen froze repeatedly, and it tried to update for hours on end. Crtl-Alt-Del and hard stops (the total extent of my computer knowledge) got me nothing.Amazon's support was helpful (basically tried another hard stop) then told me to return it for a refund.I'll try again, and update my review if the next one is not a lemon, but it will have to give me the last digit of pi for me to rate it higher than 3 stars.$650 is a lot of money for me, and I can't believe someone can still be putting out crap in 2017.

Was hate, now love my laptop
Out of the box it is beautiful! Love the feel and weight. That said, out of the box I had nothing but problems with this laptop I almost returned it I spent the first two days trying to get the windows to update. It had corrupted files and the update would not install correctly and it made everything freeze up on this computer. I am a pretty heavy computer user I am moderately smart about troubleshooting my issues and I was able to troubleshoot the corrupted files get them corrected uninstall the Windows update and reinstall the Windows update. unfortunately that was just the beginning of the problems I spent the next 10 days trying to figure out why some of my services were working sporadically like the rotation lock Bluetooth connectivity the back light to the keyboard all these things only work sometimes and then as I started installing apps and using the programs in the computer I started having more problems with things freezing up as I was using them and I would have to reboot the computer to get it to work. After much much frustration and research I reset the computer and manually downloaded the BIOS updates to the computer and then everything for Windows and all my apps all my programs Works beautifully. I now have a computer that I love but it was very frustrating the first almost 3 weeks.
