Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315 (Dusty Rose)

The Logitech Portable Lapdesk is just plain amazing - don't let its simple yet sleek design fool you. It has a rubbery, non-slip texture that prevents your laptop from slipping from the lap desk - a very simple yet important feature that 90% of lap desks do not have. The main point of having a lap desk is portability, meaning you want to have a little desk for your laptop everywhere you go. Yet, no other lap desk out there features a surface where you can place/use your mouse. Not this one. The Logitech Portable Lapdesk has a retractable mouse pad - an incredible feature that allows you to have a place for your mouse, even if you don't have a table/surface. The mouse pad is big enough to move your mouse around, and it features a thin rubber around it to prevent your mouse from falling over. It's thin and lightweight, so carrying it around will not be an issue. It doesn't have a fan, so don't expect your laptop to cool (a concept lost on some people)... But it does help prevent the heat from burning your lap. Overall, it's a great little desk that every laptop owner should have.

This is one of those products that might deserves like 4.5 stars relative to the other options but, because there are several very simple minor things that can be done that would have made absolutely perfect, I'm going to give it 4 stars instead of 5.The good:* Lightweight.* Dissipates heat well.* Sits on and sticks to the lap well.* Quality materials.* Clean look.* Solid construction: the slide out mousepad is nice and stable; it doesn't feel cheesy by any means.* It fits a 15" Mac Book Pro snugly perfect; there is literally zero underbite or overbite if you understand what I mean.The not as good:* Adds no depth or height, so your laptop sits negligibly higher than it would if it were sitting directly on your lap, with no ability to manipulate this.* The mousepad is too slim. They should have allowed it to slide out to a full width mousepad while making stable at any stopping point so users could choose a slimmer configuration if desired.* The mousepad is fixed to the right side. It could have been made lefty friendly and USB device friendly by adding a second slide out on the left side. (see below for funny update)* The surface of the mousepad is hard plastic that isn't great for tracktion or even optical; it's like maybe I'm missing something to cover the slide out tray with or something.NOTE to the manufacturer: I love this desk, but don't use the mousepad for a mouse because it's taken up by my ever present USB external hard drive. If a second slide out mousepad had existed not only would this lap desk be left-handed user friendly, it would also accommodate a USB device, typically with the tray only partially open. Furthermore, the laptop desk may even then be useful to sit on top of a desk stand because USB devices are a total pain when a stand is introduced.UPATE: well, I feel daff, I've had this lap desk for weeks and just realized it's completely symmetric: the "right mouse tray" becomes the left one by rotating the desk! I still would ahve liked two trays for my unqiue application, but thought I should update my review to point out my blunder.

The LOGITECH PORTABLE LAPDESK N315 is absolutely fantastic, HOWEVER, I found that if I use it with the THERMAPAK HS17A LAPTOP COOLING HEATSHIFT PAD then I really have TWO winners that WORK GREAT TOGETHER! The LOGITECK is very lightweight, portable, very sturdy, and will fit nicely into my carrying case. I love the rubber/sticky pad on top, because this helps my laptop to not slide off. No problems with this either. My LOGITECH will not warp, because of the cooling pad that I am using. I feel no heat while using these two products together. Also, I turn my cooling pad 180 degrees so that the horizontal corner is under the area of my laptop which heats up. This way, I am able to use my laptop twice as long, because the crystals in the cooling pad have not yet turned to gel form.BUY THESE TWO TOGETHER, AND YOU WILL BE THRILLED WITH THE RESULTS. BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE FOR MY LAPTOP.

I actually just bought a new laptop a couple of months ago, so I was out of the "cool laptop accessories" game for quite some time. I quickly noticed the 1st to 2nd degree burns I was getting on my legs from the thing, so I knew I had to buy a cooling pad or something of that nature. I have not been let down AT ALL with this item from Logitech. It's cheap, sturdy (relatively, of course), looks good, and most importantly, it does exactly what it says it does. I have had NO problems with heat on my legs after purchasing this, and for the low price, I would HIGHLY suggest you look into it yourself. I have always trusted Logitech, and they have delivered again for me with this lapdesk.P.S. I realized I forgot to comment on the mouse pad. It's ok. Honestly, most of the time I can find another surface on which to use my M315 mouse. If you are really in a pinch, though, and just have NO place to use your mouse, then the desk works well. My only complaint is that for some reason the surface of it lends itself to the mouse sliding around on its own when my hand isn't on it. Not really a huge issue, but I thought I would mention it. Still think this item is absolutely fabulous and I have not regretted buying it for one second!
