What do airline employees use?
I bought this specifically for flying to/around Europe. I travel between the US and Europe several times a year. Turns out that the first trip I took was all I needed to recoup the cost of this suitcase. Most of the time I fly I'm doing so with a budget airline. The budget airlines give you a base price for a seat. So while I fly out of JFK on a $350 round trip ticket to Olso, Paris, or Madrid for example, seat reservation, food, boarding priority, and especially anything that isn't a carry-on costs extra. That extra cost can be quite high as I'll show in my example. In this case my travel companion and I flew Norwegian Airlines. I've flown with them several times and am pleased with their service, but it's your responsibility to know that a typical American-sized (domestic) carry-on is too big for Norwegian Airlines. Hence this suitcase. It fits perfectly within Norwegian's carry-on policy. Now my travel companion didn't heed my advice. She assumed that carry-on is a catch-all word and ignored my warning about American/European size differences. So when we showed up at JFK for check-in I was able to slide this suitcase into the test rack with no problem. My companion could not. She had to check her suitcase which cost her about $100. No lightening of the weight would change the external dimensions.Upon our return to the US once again they forced me to test this suitcase. Again, within tolerance of their policy. My companion, and several other Americans, failed the test. They were pissed that I could bring mine but they couldn't. I explained that I bought this suitcase specifically for this scenario, explained what I typed above with the standard size difference. Oh, and they paid another $100 to check theirs. So paying ~$150 for this was absolutely worth it for one trip. The smugness factor was just a bonus. Do your homework before traveling folks. Also Norwegian Airlines didn't decieve anyone, this is on their site and those plethora of emails they send. How will it hold up? Probably just fine. I have two other suitcases from this brand which I have beaten and kicked around for years. They still work perfectly if a little worn.I find the batter charger built into the suitcase to be a gimic. It's completely unnecessary. Just get a power bank and remove it from your stuff. There's never been a scenario where I've thought "crap, I wish I didn't have to hold or place beside me this external battery."Hey sis, if you're reading this after I sent you the link (again), I still heart you. And perhaps you should listen to your well-traveled brother.

Not as expendable as earlier versions.
I had the Travel Crew 5 22” Suiter for over a decade. I loved that bag for its durability and expandability and compression. I would unzip the bag to full expansion, pack it, then zip it all back down to compress The luggage back to to roller board size. What’s finally broke on that bag was the zipper tabs and the wheels. I purchased this luggage because the other comparable options fell short. I have to admit I’m not all that happy with this new version of the travel pro line. The bag only expands on three of four sides of the bag which limits its total expandable capacity or at least makes packing The bag and then compressing it like I used to a lot more difficult . I do not believe he will pack as many clothes as I used to pack for those multi-day trips which require different types of clothing throughout the week. The material and the zippers on this bag do not feel as sturdy as the prior TravelPro crew five series. I am only one trip in on this bag and feel I am committed for the next several years to having to deal with its negatives. It is my hope that travel pro returns to prior styling, expandability, and quality zippers when is time for me to look for a replacement bag when this one finally craps out.

Size.
I think the item description of the dimensions is quite accurate: Case dimensions: 21 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches; Overall dimensions: 23.5 inches x 14.5 inches x 9.5 inches. Strictly speaking, I must say that it's larger than the carry-on baggage allowance (most airlines have 22 x 14 x 9 in. for the overall dimensions). That's why I don't give 5 stars. I tested at an airport with sizing units of AA and jetBlue (as shown in the photos), and, a positive surprise, it seems like there's a good chance that they'll say okay even if they measure it (with sizing units like these ones). With most aircraft's overhead bins, these dimensions shouldn't be a problem (during my first trip, I was on Embraer 175, which is small, and there's no problem.)That said, the suiter could be (already) small for someone who wears large suits. So, I imagine it's a challenge for Travelpro to make it smaller than it is now.Updated March 27The third photo. It was impossible to fit this suitcase into Avianca's sizing unit (here, it did matter the difference between 22 in. (allowed hight) and 23.5 in. (this suitcase's hight including the leather handle)), although they didn't measure anybody's luggage.

I don't have the dimensions of my previous 22" bags but this one definitely feels shorter which is good and bad
I have been a Travelpro user for 20 years (as an airline crewmwmber) and this Crew 11 seems so much lighter and therefore cheaper. After 4 months the grip on the extend handle is falling apart, the piggy-back bag clip broke and the wheels are starting to squeal at a very high pitch. I don't have the dimensions of my previous 22" bags but this one definitely feels shorter which is good and bad. It fits easily in the airplane overhead but it also has less room inside. I will be returning this bag and searching for something better.

Piece of junk, never was so dissatisfied with a product as much!
The bearings of one wheel broke on the 2nd (!) day. The wheels were about a 1/4 inch smaller and more flimsy than on previous models, so dragging it was already harder. The plastic corner covers were severely scuffed after one (!) flight. Very poor quality. My airline proffesional husband has had the Travel Pro 8 for the past 6 years and we replaced the wheels on that after 3 years and handle broke 2x but it was with 6 years of use and abuse. He was for the most part very satisfied with that model but he wanted to replace it due to its used look. So naturally we wanted to buy another Travel Pro... oh, what a mistake! The quality of these suitcases are not what it used to be...Travel professionals be warned this suitcase is a piece of junk. I would not recommend it to frequent flyers either. But after having a broken wheel in 2 days... I'm not sure I could recommend it to anyone.Try buying a previous model if you can, they may be slightly more expensive but there is a good reason for that...!

Misleading product description
So contrary to the pictures and description on the amazon webpage this suitcase DOES NOT HAVE THE USB CHARGING PORT built into it. I purchased this case specifically for that reason because I wanted to use a battery bank with it, but now I cannot. If it were not such a huge item and if I had not purchased it as a Christmas Gift for someone I would return it.

Fits even in the small regional jet overhead luggage bins
Love it, light weight, sturdy, has the fold-out to bring suits and shirts on hangers, very happy with the purchase. I fly a lot and oftentimes on short connecting flights on small regional jets, it fits in the overhead, so no need to gate check, which is a great timesaver!

Well designed and easy to roll.
Perfect for a three week tour of Portugal. I used packing g cubes and everything stayed organized and wrinkle free. It is well designed, durable and easy to pull over various types of surface.
