Yō Yoshinari Book of Paintings Illustration Collection

Really love this book, big fab of Yoh’s work, impressed by the amount of work compiled in the book. I specially love the rough sketches section towards the back.

If you're a fan of Yoh Yoshinari's art you will not be disappointed with this book. The pages are glossy and high quality, the vibrancy of the colors pops with each illustration, and there are works from several series included here. His grounded and detailed art style can be truly appreciated up close and personal.If you're purchasing this as learning material to attempt to recreate his style, you would be better off investing in his rough sketch books. Those books better capture the energy and rhythm of his drawings, whereas some of that might get lost in the rendering and fine details of these illustrations. There are a few rough drawings in the back of this book that give insight into how he draws mech and utilizes perspective he uses.

Yes. That. Spend the money. It's an investment.

PROS:+Glossy book and excellent page quality+Page stitching is great and allows for easy viewing of Y.Yoshinari's full page illustrations. Jaw dropping.+The book showcases several unique art styles and directions -- Yoshinari is definitely not a one trick pony.+A LOT of high quality material that spans across famous and critically acclaimed works such as Gurren Lagaan and Evangelion.+Dynamic illustrations, poses, and compositions... Makes you wish you had a print of one of these to hang up on your wall!CONS:-Pixellation is apparent on the edge of some isolated sketches, but mostly unnoticeable.-Not much material for Little Witch Academia, Grandia 3 and FLCL fans.-Interview with Y. Yoshinari at the end is entirely in Japanese (but since this is a japanese book... can’t fault them too much.)------Overall, I would recommend this book to any Evangelion or Gurren Lagann, or Yoh Yoshinari fan! If you're looking for more behind-the scenes rough sketches, the short section in the back of the book probably isn't going to keep you entertained for long since this is primarily a finished illustration artbook. If you're looking for a more substantial compilation covering any other series like Panty and Stocking w/ Garterbelt or Little Witch Academia... Keep looking. Its not enough to justify purchasing the book.

This artbook is amazing, I took it and got it signed by Yoshinari and he seemed to really appreciate that I had/enjoyed his own personal art. I will say it’s not hardback and I wish that they had bound it with cardboard when they shipped it. The jacket had some wrinkles in it that could have been easily avoided.

This art book is beautiful. I love this book, it is thick, the art work is amazing and if you are a fan of Yoh Yoshinari. Then this book is for you.
