Stable and sturdy but could use a larger backplate

These are stable and sturdy once installed. They could definitely use a larger backplate, the size of the backplate makes it so that they will actually compress into the wall when secured properly if they are mounted to drywall (into a stud)

Screw sheared while installing. What am I supposed to do now? Brackets seam to constructed solidly, but seller is providing cheap screws. Brass colored junk.
