A Mini "Mus" Brings "Maximus" Fun! (Review of Text and CD)
Okay, I am 32 years old. But, I always felt cheated out of learning Latin in school, and I want to expose my daughter to the structure and sounds of Latin early, so I bought this delightful beginner's course. The textbook shows examples of conversation in Latin through cartoon drawings of Roman citizens living in Great Britain almost 2000 years ago. Minimus, a little brown mouse, is our tour guide through lessons in Roman culture and history, as well as our instructor in the finer points of Latin. There is a light touch throughout the course, befitting one designed for 7-10 year olds, but much appreciated by this older learner, too. The accompanying CD is a must, though, as there is no handy pronunciation guide with the book. Listening to the CD is great, and I have played it while driving around town on errands. If you've read through the text, you can follow the CD even without following the text at the same time -- and how fun to hear a "dead" language come alive!

Definitely get this cd
This is a great addition to the text book. The animal voices are about the most adorable thing I've ever heard. The voice actors also have British accents and I am one of those Americans who find that charming. I would not recommend the series without purchasing the cd because it really helps one with the pronunciation.

So cute!
I am very excited to reach my four year old Latin, we have ordered the audio cd that goes along with the book to ensure proper pronunciation. Check out the minimus website for lots of free resources that go along with the book! The woman who created the Minimus character also offers online courses , lots to find on the website!

The audio is good sound, but not worth $24--especially without the workbook
The audio is good sound, but not worth $24--especially without the workbook. We decided to check out the workbook from the library and ordered the audio (cd) to go along with it because the two were a bit too pricey. The cd only has the conversations that have been taken from the workbook. So if you don't have the workbook, you will be lost. There is no translation on the cd (though the workbook gives illustrations making it easier to immerse the learner). The workbook is much more beneficial, though it should come with the audio. It seems almost impossible to learn a language without hearing the language. . .especially Latin because similar (English) words and letters have completely different sounds. A combined set of no more than $35 seems more reasonably priced. Not too satisfied with this purchase.

My 5 children and I are thoroughly enjoying this CD along with the pupil books and teachers manual. It works well even for junior high and high school homeschoolers.

Quality, as described
Product just as described! Arrived quickly!I needed the Audio CD to accompany a beginners Latin curriculum I bought elsewhere. Brand new the CD is very expensive. After reading positive reviews here I decided to go for used -but like new condition. Case and CD look perfect just as described in listing.

Minimus Audio CD
This is a great little CD, it really helped my eight year old daughter learn how to speak faster and apply what she is learning in lessons to actual conversations. I highly recommend this CD as a companion to the book, which is also wonderful.
