Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 - 13.3" Touch Display - 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Theoretical Gray (i5379-7909GRY-PUS)

Had this laptop for a few months now love it. I love taking note in class with a stylus and has been great for school and casual games.

Ordered for a friend since its one of the early upgradeable Core i7 8th gen laptops you can buy, used it plugged in for 3 days so here are my remarks:-CPU (5/5):-The CPU is the 8th gen i7 8550U which is now a quad core instead of a dual core like the 7th gen was (i7 7500U).performance increase is noticeable even with its low power budget (15W), the CPU can boost way past the base frequency, on lighter load it can go above 3.5GHz easily, on more multi-threaded load it stays around 2.5 to 3GHz on all four cores which is impressive.My sample was able to be undervolted by 100mV on Intel XTU so that the CPU can keep the boosting over 3GHz at all time which is good for an Ultrabook.RAM (4/5)Comes standard with a Single 8GB DDR4-2133 MHz RAM, there is an extra slot which you can use, I added another 8GB stick for a total of 16GB.Dell says the maximum is 16GB but I'm pretty sure you can go up to 32GB RAM on this one.GPU (3/5)The GPU is Intel UHD 620, nothing to see here, good for basic stuff like watching movies.Cooling (2/5)An area where it needs improving, the CPU temps can go over 80C (even though the CPU is only 15W) because the fan kicks in way late and doesn't spin fast enough, the bottom of the laptop gets warm to touch under heavy load, I would say its more warm than it should.Only thing thats good about this area is that the fan is quiet even when its running hot (Above 80C).Storage (3/5)Storage was a standard 1TB, there is only one space for a 2.5" HDD/SSD, you don't have an M.2 slot or anything, I had a spare 500GB Samsung 850 EVO so I replaced the HDD with the SSD and reinstalled the Windows and everything runs smooth and fast.Display (3.5/5)The display is 1080p IPS panel, since its an IPS it has a good viewing angles and deep saturated colors.Display goes up to around 270 cd/m2 and it had a good calibration out of the box, I slightly adjusted the white color temperature (Used -4 brightness for Green and -8 brightness for Blue) on the Intel Graphics Control Panel to hit the Optimal D65 White Point, and the Color calibration process didn't do much to correct the colors since they were already good out of the box, color coverage was 60% sRGB, 43% DCI-P3 and 42% ARGB, not excellent but no that bad either.Overall (4/5)Nice Ultrabook, above average on weight and Thickness, subpar cooling but it good everywhere else and gets the job done.

très beau design, bon produit mais disque dur vraiment pas terrible, ralentit extrêmement la machine, au point de changer pour mettre un ssd, apres fait son boulot.Pour le ventilateur, il auraient du remplacer par un refroidisseur dernière génération qui ne fait pas de bruit, au lieu d'avoir un qui tourne car a la longue ça s'use.avec un bon refroidisseur et un ssd c'est le top.Peut faire mieux

stay away from this notebook. it runs hot loud and is super slow my 4 year old Lenovo i5 runs circles around this 8th gen i7. its not the processor that is the issue. day 1 opened box set up installed office and then spent 12 hours trying to resolve HDD usage at 100%. after countless updates and driver updates too still not doing better. turned off superfetch and windows search and tips still not better go to dell to run diags. Diags will not complete no error code. Call dell without asking for codes or any real technical questions they process for replacement. I have dealt with dell support enough to know they ask a ton more questions before even considering replacement they didn't offer repair which I would have denied them to do any way they went straight to replacement the whole call took about a minute. so this tells me that they know its a crappy product they don't want to diagnose the issue they just want to replace it. DO NOT buy its a bad model. I am quite disappointed as I was really looking forward to an 8th gen 4 core i7 and really putting it through its paces. As an IT pro I recommend Dell for desktops and servers to all of my clients I had a Lenovo that was getting long in the tooth but still alive. I have been aware of some models of dell having issues I have never had a replacement offered at the moment of call with out at least some basic questions and trouble shooting. Dell knows its a problem child.

My friend and me purchased it with only difference of i5 and i7. i7 is getting warmer than normal and the HDD inside it, is making noises, after replacing it with SSD it's good otherwise better to wait for new model.

The product came exactly as I had seen on this site. Thanks to amazon family in delivering it in time and the product meet my expectations.
