How long it will last on full charge, let say in economical or medium mode?

Well I keep it to the side of my bed in charge all the time unless I need it for less than 30 mins bec on full charge it’s only last 20/30 mins

is there a lockout feature ?Will it be easy to turn on in my bag?

this flashlight needs to be double click to turn on ,So it's not so easy to touch and turn on ,i like it .it is a great flashlight for an everyday carry

Do i need to cycle through different modes for each use ?

Yes just start of by charging it as the red colour is on it’s charging then press the button 3 in a row then u get a white light then press the button just once’s then it’s changes to diff colour and so on u get like there 7 options but u need to press the button 3 time in a row to start the colour or to use it as a tourch just press the button 2 times only and the torch comes on and there 3 strength to the torch onnce it’s on just press the button 1 time each to brighten the torch I hope this helps you.
