Chemfulfill Hexane – Extremely High Purity (N-Hexane) (55-Gallon Drum)

I ordered the quart sized bottle of Hexane - 33.8 fl oz to be exact - slightly more than a quart in order to satisfy customers who need either fluid ounces or liters, as this size is only marginally under one liter.Shipping was very fast considering that Hexane is extremely flammable, and like all combustible products, requires special packaging and can only be shipped ground as air freight isn't an option with any combustible product for consumers.It does seem to me to meet their claim that it's 99.9% pure n-Hexane (CAS#110-54-3) due to its very low odor, very fast evaporation rate and leaves almost zero residue on a spotlessly cleaned mirror compared to other solvents I used for comparison. I'm not a chemist or have access to the necessary lab equipment to test its purity, so keep in mind that this is only an educated guess on my part.My only minor quibble is that the child proof cap needs to be replaced by a better quality one. No matter what I did I couldn't open the bottle until I used a robust pair of pliers to the remove the child proof part and then the same to screw the cap off.Lastly, ALWAYS use safe handling practices when working with these highly volatile and combustible liquids. Only use is open spaces with plenty of ventilation, keep exposure to fumes to a minimum, and store in a fire proof cabinet away from heat and sunlight. Most Safety Data Sheets (SDS) these days, previously called Manufacturers Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) usually list the evaporation rate and flash point. The latter info gives one an idea of how quickly the fumes will fill an enclosed space and volatility.Only use this product with extreme caution!
