Exactly what I needed
Rail permits precise, calibrated camera movement to produce macro images with very limited depth of field for image stacking. Seems well made.

Fills an important niche
This rail is just what I needed, a light, compact rail that I can take out into the field to shoot focus stacks of plants, flowers, fungi, insects and other in situ subjects. Yes, I do own a StackShot rail and controller and yes, I have put everything into a backpack and used it in the field, but holy crap is it ever a lot of gear to haul around! I have also done stacks by simply turning the focus ring of a shorter macro lens but to get close to a subject in the wild I really need my ED Micro Nikkor 200mm, and to try to turn the focus ring by an amount equivalent to 10μ is next to impossible. Did I mention that I also carry a pair of LED light panels in a Fanny pack? This NiSi rail makes field work possible and enjoyable.

Love the measures imprinted
I needed a rail for my focus stacking photos and this was a great find! Overall built is great, except mine had a squeaking issue which I hope it will go away as I use it more. When I rotate the knob, half of the turn was squeaking and I can feel some kind of sand or something in the gear as well. Rotation feels inconsistent still after several use but the squeaking part got less (say, about 15% instead of 50% of turn). Maybe I need to lubricate it. But besides that, it does a great job.

Exactly what I needed, quality machining
No complaints, this little gadget took my macro photography to the next level - for stationary subjects, anyway. It's too slow and cumbersome for anything that moves (live bugs, etc). I was prepared for grease like many reviews warned about. My rail, however, came with *no* lubricant at all, and was gritty and gross to turn. I used some clipper blade lubricant and now it's smooth and not at all messy.I echo the other cons noted by previous reviews - the legs are pointless and the handle moves the whole rig so much that I don't use it, but no big deal to me. I'm glad I purchased this rail and for now it's all I need!

Good Quality
First, full disclosure, this is my first purchase of a set of focus rails. I found the NiSi unit to be of good build quality and I think that is important for focus rails. They have given thought to the overall product including the packaging. The packaging is attractive very modern like an Apple product. The product is well made, parts fit together well. It's expensive but it includes an good Arca Swiss Camera plate which is a nice touch. Comments about the grease are correct. It's easy to touch grease. When mounted to my tripod and with everything clamped, it is solid. I have been getting great results when focus stacking and in macro work. I find that the screw knob is easy to use for fine focus adjust and the crank is for corse adjust. I am a happy customer.

For a precision linear macro rail at this price point, I wasn't happy with the build quality
I REALLY wanted to like this macro focus rail (NM200s) and was incredibly excited about it, but I decided to return it almost immediately after seeing it in person. At a $200 price point for a precision rail you'd expect something ... well ... precise.I don't know, maybe I just got unlucky and received a defective unit, but the lead screw on the product I received was badly warped. This warp causes the entire carriage assembly to wobble, which is then amplified to the attached camera. In macro photography, the subject needs to be still for quality photo stacks and this amount of wobble is unacceptable, especially at higher magnifications (kind of the point for buying a rail haha). The product is also unstable on a desktop due to the narrow feet.Things I liked: Product looks nice, materials feel high quality, the dial indicator for precise adjustments is nice, I had no issues with either of the arca rail mounts, the quick adjust button works well.Things I didn't like: Machining tolerances allow the carriage to twist and wobble, carriage hits the dial and loses significant travel distance if it is oriented in a way that makes the most sense for mounting a camera, feet are spaced too close together making it unstable on a desktop, lead screw is warped (in my case, some may be fine), the dial makes contact with and rubs on another piece of metal when turned, overall tolerances need work.Suggestions for manufacturer: Use a linear rail or two rods with slide bearings to eliminate the ability for the lead screw to wobble the carriage. Or, improve your quality control to prevent the use of warped lead screws. Space the feet out with two optional/removable brackets for a wider/more stable base. Check the design for interferences and make adjustments so the knobs can't hit things.I appreciate simple designs, but that makes tolerancing and quality control critical and this product seems to be lacking in those areas (this is coming from a mechanical engineer).

This is a solid, precision tool that just works!

Not a macro focus slide
This is not a MACRO focus rail. It is so poorly engineered that rotating the carriage screw causes the camera (and thus the lens) to move significantly at magnification of 2.5x and higher. I didn't bother trying another lens with it because I was so disgusted with my initial results.Terrible, do not buy unless you need a backup for long shots in stop motion, and even then there are better, cheaper options.

Works as described it would.
I found no fault with this and it works well.

Overall good value
Digital alignment from shot to shot is mandatory for my version, there is a significant wobble in the adjustment bolt but this didn't affect the final result for my use.

Demasiado duro al girar riel
Mucho muy duro girar el riel, para el tipo de fotografía macro no es funcional, no me gustó el producto
