Would this work to seal a valve cover gasket? Would it work in part with the actual gasket?

No, don’t use for valve cover sealant. Use Ultra Black 82180. I thought the 80016 would be a better valve cover sealant since it was a few dollars more than 82180. I was wrong. After a few days, I removed the cover for a valve clearance check and the excess sealant had all fallen off into the head’s nooks and corners. The sealant had become semi-hard and brittle. I’ve never had this happen with Ultra Black. I’m in the process of cleaning the head. It doesn’t look like any material is big enough to clog the oil passages but I’m cleaning the head just in case. At least the stuff is flakey enough to easily clean off the cover and rubber gasket. And it didn’t leak in the few hours the motor spent running. The motor is from a Yamaha WR450F so the temperatures might be a little higher than an automobile.

is this ok as a carburerator bowl sealer ?--is it gas resistant?

it should be my husband has never had a problem using this product but check the label to make sure also you can email the gasket sealer & they will answer all questions there should be a phone number on the product as well but carburerator should come with a seal

I have used permatex number 2 since 1988 I have used them for head gaskets and rear differential pans and valve covers and many things. It doesn't stretch like most gasket makers to where it breaks I have even used this for head gasket on diesel caterpillar trucks and heavy equipment. Intake manifolds, water pumps
