Purchased this reel for catfish. I purchased a KastKing Capstan Elite 300 last year that I was so impressed with for the price. My only wish was that they release one in a 400 size to hold more line. Amazon had a sale on this Alijoz 400 recently and I figured it was worth a shot.I was casting 9 Oz weights and huge baits with the brakes turned out to basically zero with no issues two nights in a row. While the largest fish I’ve landed with this reel may have only gone 20 pounds, I think it will handle 50 without issue.I am blown away at the quality of these new low cost reels. Made in China? Yeah. But guess where the $100-150 Shimano’s are made. Dollar for dollar Piscifun and Kastking are taking care of their customers with high quality equipment at affordable prices compared to the same from the big names.I’ll probably be replacing all of my 6500’s with these low profile high capacity reels next year. I add $60 in bearings to 6500’s out of the box to get the casting distance of these reels with no modifications at all. Not to mention, they’re so much more comfortable to use.I have not torn one of these reels down to clean yet. That’s a biggie for me. We will see. If I can’t tear down and reassemble without YouTube I might change my mind.I will be trying other Pisifun reels for crappie as well. Very impressed.

One of the best reels i have come across and use it at the coast pier fishing for Spanish, Jacks, Chopper Blues about anything i can cast at. The people at the pier are impressed how well I am at casting a no wind knots, backlash & ease of reeling in fish and with fast retrieve. The only problem I have & it took me a few times to figure out was if the crank arm was at the top on hard cast it would trip the release but luckily with drag set i did not snap off plugs. I just make certain crank arm is at the bottom on casting & never been an issue since and love the crank with the ease of getting that extra leverage with fast retrieves especially if sharks are in the area so not to get taxed.

The reel was exactly what I wanted, it was my own fault that I chosed a left handed one instead of a right handed so I ended up sending it back, yes I do plan to reorder the right handed one.

A buddy of mine who regularly catches BIG catfish ( mostly blues)highly recommend the Piscifun Alijoz 400 Baitcaster, so I went and bought 2 of them. Shipping to my door in 2 days. Out of the box they are beautiful, smooth reels. Spooled both with 40lb mono no problem, although being the lower profile style caster, they won’t physically hold near as much line mono or braid compared to the standard baitcast style. Took em with me to the lake that night. Great casting distance and the 8:1 gearing makes bringing that line back in extremely fast. Went to cast the other one and…..no idea how but the drag wheel and the reel handle were locked together and could not be freed up without taking the entire handle system apart, and that really didn’t work either! Not good at all for a $120 reel straight out of the box! Frustrating! Next morning I filed a return for the one reel. Extremely easy return process and a new reel was shipped out to me that same day! I hadn’t even dropped the other reel at UPS yet! Another plus….. when returning the reel, just put back in original box and give to UPS Store, get reciept and done! Replacement here in 2 days, also went out that night to both reels flawless performance! All in all….quality control at the factory may be lacking a bit but the excellent customer service make up for that! Extremely happy with the purchase, all around great reels!

Great reel. Cast great and drag is strong. Using this on an 8' MH popping rod for bull reds and sharks. Also landed a 20# plus Jack Crevalle in about 5 minutes. Using 40# spider wire stealth with a 30# three foot long fluorocarbon leader. Deadly combo.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great reel smooth drag and plenty of line capacity. I recommend to adjust it before casting because it’s a pretty fast reel and I got a birds nest the first cast… and maybe the second and third lol I adjusted it a bit and it cast really well

The reel seems great for the price. I bought it as a back up to other musky reels but was surprised of the quality and smooth retrieve. It fishes as nice as any reel I have. I’ve only used it for one day so time will tell on durability but for the price it can’t be beat.

This reel is a pepper grinder right out of the box. It kind of sounds like a shimono curado dc when you cast it, but it’s not supposed to make a loud squeaking noise. And it’s not casting as it should! Need a refund or replacement reel.I had a friend also get one of these same reels recently and he had the same issue.
