3M Versaflow head cover
I have a small manufacturing business and I need a good respirator for protection from fine metal and wood dust. I have other 3M regular respirators but I find that they irritate my skin. I purchased this one to go along with a 3M PAPR 10 belt mounted powered unit with a hepa filter. Being part of a positive pressure system the head cover does not come into contact with my face. The unit seems to be well made but it has some shortcomings. First, it is heavy. You might not notice it at first but after a couple of hours you definitely will. Second, the top is partially open which reduces weight but it also allows the airborne dust to settle in your hair. The dust doesn't get inside as the unit is a positive pressure system so there is no danger of breathing any dust. Still, it is an annoying annd easily corrected design flaw. I put a piece of paper towel in the open areas which keeps the dust out but 3M could have eliminated the problem with a little thought on the part of their engineers. The final negative is the coupling for the air hose at the rear of the unit. My PAPR 10 originally came with a light weight head cover which works but is rather cheaply made. When I attempted to attach the new head cover I discovered it wouldn't work as they made the coupling differently. I am an engineer and there is no reason for them to do this other than it allows them to also force you to purchase a nice new expensive air hose. Fortunately I was able to modify the couplings such that I can now use either of the head covers with the same hose. Quite honestly, I must warn you in advance. If you are planning to buy one of these there is a distinct chance you will also have to buy a nice new expensive hose as well.

Heavier, but durable
Works well the PAPR units our hospital ER uses (also Versaflow), but more durable. Does not stain or smell bad after wearing for 5+ hours/day for several weeks. Neck aches a bit more after prolonged use (heavier than the Tyvek-style hoods) but the articulating faceplate is nice when I step outside the tent for a breath of fresh air, without having to completely doff. Gonna get a lot of use out of this hood this year.

its on the heavy side if you tilt your head forward a lot
especially if you have the earmuff attachments. Otherwise its great. Just wish the supplied air system didn't cost an arm and a leg. I 3d printed some fittings to make a stationary supplied air system from a shop air filter and some tubing. if you do this, be sure to get the lightest weight, most flexible tubing possible, and make the connection at the helmet able to rotate. Otherwise itll tug on your neck and be a real pain

nice shield.
its a 3m product, so you know its quality. I've been in the autobody field for almost 20 years. finally decided to get a papr respirator. this unit is comfortable and easy to wear. took a little getting used to, but it works great, much better than the old pink filter particle masks.

It can me used with adflow, welding mask papr.
U need the air in order to work I happen to have the adflo so it worked for me in the summer!. It was 101 and I could keep this on regardless try that with a respirator or dust mask. Over all get tool for me I cut concrete for a living so I am safe from silica.

Prohibitively expensive system
Without the powered respirator, dogs up bad. Said respirator, 500$+, for a plastic box, containing a battery and filter, and $350 for a battery.. come on, that just ridiculous.

Great product a bit on the pricey side.
Great face shield. Use it to keep from breathing in dust when turning. Much more comfortable than a regular shield with a respirator.

Super comfortable and effective
Outstanding product. Very comfortable to wear, good visibility and excellent dust protection. Best PAPR I have used to date. Can wear it all day long for woodworking.
