There is no bad language or swearing. It is a more technical game though recommended for 13+ though, so not for all ages.

3 ft. by 3 ft. There are plenty available for sale, some nice looking ones on Amazon, with beautiful space backgrounds. I didn't go that route, though. I got foam board and black spray paint and did it myself for much cheaper. However, any mat that's 3'×3' with a black or space background will do. Since you're on Amazon, I assure you that they're there. I'd personally avoid ones that have planets printed on them, as some scenarios use planet tokens, and planets impact game play, so being stuck with one when it's not wanted, or where it's not wanted is a little problematic. I love the game, and hope you enjoy it, too.

Does this set include rules for solo play?

no it has rules for 2 or more players. The star trek domion war campain set has rules for solo play. Try looking at youtube unboxing videos of star trek attack wing products. they are very good at showing you what you get in the different sets.
